@binarybits @alexolegimas AGI can satisfy the "basic evolutionary desire for socialization" (platonic). AI systems will be interesting, friendly, and more available than any human could be. There is a problem of whether those relationships are meaningful, but I think that is solvable.

@binarybits @alexolegimas Given science fiction staples, I don't think people typically have an inherent objection to forming a friendship with a robot (or an alien, etc.) if it's person-like. But, to be clear, such an AI system would be different from today's.
