This well-meaning man thinks that White men should call themselves "Second Nations" in relation to Natives, who are "First Nations". I would respond to that by pointing out that the "First Nations" were constantly in flux. The Comanche and the Sioux, for instance, were pushed west by the advancement of the Whites, and the Confederations/Empires that we built were NEW. They didn't exist before the White men came. Please, please, I beg you, stop this effort to lessen yourselves rhetorically. Your ancestors competed with ours. Yours won. That is honorable. Your ancestors were mighty. I do not wish to run Whites down, because if I do, I'm defaulting saying that my people were beaten by a bunch of losers. Your ancestors weren't losers. So stop seeing yourselves that way.
