Here's one of Michael Crichton's very finest quotes, especially applicable to climate "science": "I want to pause here and talk about this notion of consensus, and the rise of what has been called consensus science. I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks. Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had. Let’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right ... In science, consensus is irrelevant." Best to everyone, w.
PoIiMath@politicalmath

Michael Crichton is such a fascinating figure and it is a goddamn shame he died so young This guy got into Harvard Medical School and said "actually, I want to write stories" so he wrote one of the most harrowing long short stories, the Andromeda Strain. This guy was addicted to research. He read scientific journals for fun and researched everything that captured his interest. He was curious and skeptical. He thought hard about the implications of technology all the time. And, instead of being a dork and writing a blog, he wrote entire novels warning about the dangers of emerging technologies. And they were great! He wrote a `Prey` about the dangers of combining AI with nanobots 24 years ago. It's tremendous. You could publish it today and it would be relevant. I miss him. I miss technically competent authors who can spin a good yarn while informing the reader about how technology is changing the world. Crichton was a generational talent and we are poorer for his absence.

Unbelievable, No wonder the Liberals don’t actually want rent or the price of housing to go down, 38% of Carney’s ministers are landlords, earning rental income or as investors in property management businesses or real estate investment trusts. Lena Diab has 14 rental property units in Halifax. Champagne has rental properties in London England. These people sure have become filthy rich off the backs of Canadians. But of course there’s no conflict of interest going on….

Eric Trump just flipped the script on Chris Cuomo live on-air, leaving him shocked. Cuomo accused President Trump of going after his political opponents the moment he took office… Eric sounded off: “Did we, did we try and bankrupt Biden? Did we raid Biden's home? Did we try and bankrupt Biden?” “Did we weaponize every AG and DA against Biden? Do we do that against Hunter Biden who had a laptop from hell, pictures of cocaine, illicit drug use, prostitution?” “Did we make up a dirty dossier? About Biden, did they try and destroy Biden's marriage? Did we make up stories that Biden had secret servers in the basement of his home communicating with the Kremlin in Russia?” “Did we strip Biden off the ballot of multiple states? Did we take Biden off of Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and try and silence his voice so he couldn't communicate?” “Did we put Biden in a courtroom every single day for nonsense to try and keep him off of a campaign trail to try and destroy his life?” Well done @MrPoolQ1

They've taken our words. They've taken our spaces. They tell us we should shut up about it. And then they tell us we're misogynists for not wanting men in our spaces ordering us about.

Gender Criticals claim that it’s “objectively true” that “trans women are biologically male.” This is philosophically naive. What’s “objectively true” is trans women went down small gametic pathway. But whether we as society define *that* as being what the English term “male” means is not itself a “objective fact” but a contingent fact of whatever language game we happen to be playing in different contexts. For example, are we playing the evo-bio language game or are we playing the clinical medicine game or the casual conversation among friends game or the corporate HR policy game or the airport bathroom policy game? To say the evo-bio definition of “male” which anchors on gametes is “objectively true” is simply false and misunderstands the role contingency and pragmatism plays in how concepts get defined. What’s the alternative to the gametic definition? The “layer cake model” which defines sex in layers: gametic sex, chromosomal sex, morphological sex, endocrine sex, psychological sex, etc, etc, some of which can be changed by modern technology and some of which cannot. Thus the claim that sex “cannot be changed” is itself a philosophical question concerning the philosophy of language and not a purely empirical “fact.” It depends on how we decide to define “sex” and there’s no Platonic rule book in the sky which says sex MUST be defined in strictly gametic terms vs the layer cake model.

@FondOfBeetles @RayAlexWilliams If you want to argue that black is white you need to introduce doubt or confusion but there is no space for that in simplicity. That means you have to introduce artificial complexity to make space for your equally artificial 'confusion' and that's all we're seeing here.

After years of being banned from entering a stadium in my own country, for no crime other than being a woman, this is how I walked in. This was the World Cup FIFA 2026 between England and Panama but for me, it was beyond that. You have to be a woman from Iran or Afghanistan to truly understand this emotion. For whom this simple act, walking into a stadium, moving with joy, showing my hair, sitting next to men, was not just forbidden. I was beaten for it. Imprisoned for it. Humiliated for it. Exiled for it. And even in exile, I became a target for multiple assassination plots. And now people lecture me: "Don't politicize football." I have a question: which part of my body hasn't already been politicized by the Islamic Republic? My hair? My voice? My seat in a stadium? They turned our entire existence into a political battlefield. Every inch of a woman was a crime scene under their law. And now I'm supposed to just sit back, eat a hot dog, and enjoy the game? I did enjoy the game. England won. But walking through those gates, that was the real victory.

If nothing else, the entire trans project shows how much women are reviled & how little our rights and boundaries are respected. It demonstrates so clearly how much significance is given to the desires and demands of men & how little is given to the safety and dignity of women.

@mattvanswol I had a friend who got fired from a bank in the eighties for refusing to giving cash to a bank robber. She actually verbally chased him out of the bank. In this case of course there was no real violence. But the moment someone is hurt those do as they say rules should be gone.

🚨WHAT THE HELL?!!! Two Starbucks employees who FOUGHT OFF ARMED ROBBERS AND HELD THEM FOR THE POLICE... ...have been FIRED for "violating company policy" because they did not just comply. They risked their lives to defend the store and customers... and Starbucks FIRED THEM for it. This happened at a St. Louis Starbucks where 2 masked men walked in, pointed a gun, and demanded money. Everyone hit the floor and one robber shoved a female employee to the ground. A worker named Michael Harris tried to just give them the cash to make them leave. They pistol-whipped him in the back of the head. Then his coworker Devin Jones-Ransom made a split-second decision and TACKLED the gunman into the drive-thru window. The weapon broke... and they realized it was fake. They subdued the robber and held him for police. Both robbers were convicted and they're sitting in prison right now BECAUSE of these two young men. And a few weeks later, after the attention died down and Starbucks FIRED BOTH OF THEM. The reason? They "violated company policy" by not just complying to being robbed. Just so we are clear... a man gets a gun smashed into his skull, fears for his life, fights back, helps put two armed robbers in prison... ...and Starbucks FIRES HIM FOR IT?!!!! WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THIS?!!!!!!

I seethe every time someone refers to Carney as a "businessman." He is very much a bureaucrat. People don't seem to realize that private businesses also have bureaucracies and bureaucrats.
JayGen 𝕏 er🇨🇦@JayGenXer

This is one of the best takedowns of Mark Carney I’ve seen. He’s not a businessman. He’s never run a company. He’s never met a payroll. He’s a lifelong bureaucrat who somehow convinced people he’s some kind of economic genius. The guy actually went on TV in Atlantic Canada and downplayed steel tariffs because “we don’t use that much steel.” That’s not just tone-deaf — that’s fundamental ignorance of how manufacturing, auto, and resource sectors actually work in this country. Carney keeps all the worst Trudeau-era policies in place — emissions caps, anti-oil and gas rules, the whole net-zero scam — but now he can personally override them whenever he wants. If those policies were good, why does he need an override button? He’s admitting they’re damaging Canada but refuses to scrap them. He’s concentrating more power in the PMO than ever, acting like the King of Canada while surrounding himself with the same failed Trudeau retreads. His own caucus is still pushing the climate nonsense that’s been proven to waste billions and make life more expensive for regular people. Meanwhile, oil and gas — our single biggest export earner — is still being deliberately held back. Provincial trade barriers are still choking the economy. And the same people who created this mess are still in charge, still pocketing money from the climate grift while average Canadians get squeezed. This government was a failure under Trudeau. Under Carney it’s just a more polished version of the same failure. Less government. Lower taxes. Cut the red tape. Develop our resources. Stop robbing the middle class to enrich insiders. That’s the only reset that actually works. #cdnpoli #CarneyFail #LiberalFail #CanadaFirst

I was never a practising, observant Muslim. Yet, even I wanted Islam to take over Europe and the West until I was a teenager. We are taught that Islam's greatest achievements are conquest and colonialism. We are taught that the greatest thing we could ever do is enable the invasion and conquest of non-Muslim countries. This is a fact that only a former Muslim would tell you.

A former Canadian NDP MP is running a YouTube channel called MeidasCanada “Powered by MeidasTouch Network.” MeidasTouch is a Soros-backed American political media operation classified as hyper-partisan left by Ad Fontes Media. These are the same people who often accuse anyone on the right as being “foreign interference”, “paid for”, and try to cast doubt and suspicion on the motives of anyone who has a different political leaning. The Canada Elections Act bans foreign entities from spending money to influence Canadian elections. I have questions.

@Filamagnum @PierrePoilievre @JohnBrassardCPC I love the way they present the government as aiming to buy the properties well below construction costs while simultaneously presenting as making sure developers aren't selling at a loss. Clearly none of us with the ability to think, thinks this is a good idea.
