Our keynote was Chris Rufo, and he did not disappoint -- talking long into the late evening. We also heard from a presentation on UVA & FOIA, speeches from students and our TJC president Joel Gardner, plus remarks from former AG Jason Miyares. @TheJeffersonC With Beardsley now in charge as Rector it looks like the BOV is back to rubber stamping ongoing tuition increases that continue to deprive middle class families with incomes over $100,000 (Access UVA's family income ceiling) from affording UVA's cost of attendance.

The BOV is having their special session today, falling in between their normal quarterly meetings of March and June. The BOV will hear reports from various committees, including Finance, which has proposed, and is expected to pass, multiple cost increases next year including roughly: 🎯3.6% Tuition 🎯4.8% Dining 🎯5% Housing 🎯Various Fee increases If that wasn't offensive enough, the BOV will also take a hard hat tour of the $100Million Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology, merely three months after Paul Manning was forced to resign prior to Gov. THE U.S. SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM NATO Stop the Nonsense Now! 💥 NATO was formed in opposition to the Soviet Union, which is now Russia under Putin's leadership. Given this history, it shouldn't be surprising if Putin feels threatened or targeted by a collective of nations that essentially positions him as the enemy. Wouldn't it be natural for him to react defensively or strategically to what he perceives as an antagonistic stance? If you're a kid on the playground and all of the other kids gang up against you, what would be your reaction? How would you feel? Putin has shown great restraint in not reacting in response to both perceived and real hostility. In fact, Putin is reaching out on behalf of peace. The U.S. should withdraw from NATO. Take away the adversarial, confrontational barrier, and enable something new to be born in the void. Something new could turn out to benefit the entire world. And anyone that thinks Putin is going to begin shooting and begin aggressively moving into other countries the moment NATO collapses is just plain nuts. The stated goal was to "screw up their numbers," flooding the registration system with fake sign-ups in order to block real attendees from securing a spot. Let's be clear about what this is: it's not a protest.
