@CoreyWriting Israelis are baby killers as are all Zionists. Usually you could respond with not all Israelis, but, IDF service is mandatory and they've been murdering civilians for many many decades. So, they're all complicit.

@GarethJennings3 Horses for courses. This was a very demanding CSAR-op deep in enemy territory, you would want the whole package for this, meaning MC/HC-130 & HH-60 with their dedicated CSAR-specalists aircrew & PJs. The CV-22 is a great platform, but after all it is just a compromise.

Isn't this exact mission (requiring the speed and range of a fixed-wing coupled with the hovering flexibility of a rotary-wing) the whole point of the CV-22? 🤷‍♂️

Remains of the USAF M/HC-130 Hercules transport aircraft destroyed by US forces before departing their forward base in Iran, used successfully to recover the downed F-15 aircrew. The aircraft had reportedly become stuck in the soft ground and were blown up to avoid capture.

I’m asked this a lot in my lectures: Why did the Soviets invest so many resources in propagating antizionism globally? Did they really hate Jews that much? The answer is that they invested in antizionism because it worked for them, both geopolitically and domestically. To be sure, there were many individuals in the Soviet antizionist apparatus who were driven by personal antisemitism. The Zionologists — individuals tasked with formulating the key tenets of the ideology — are the prime example. But at the state level, the demonization of Israel served much bigger, strategic purposes. It strengthened the Soviet-Arab alliance. It helped mobilize groups and states around the world against the US and the West, pulling them into the Soviet anti-Western orbit, including at the UN. At home, it functioned as a warning to other minorities: don’t organize around your own national interests, and definitely forget about any emigration demands. For the Soviets, antizionism was a tool — and a highly effective one at that. That’s why they kept using it, even when internal discussions acknowledged that their antizionist language was echoing the Protocols and Nazi propaganda. This is useful to understand because antizionism is still a political tool today. We talk a lot about antizionist hate, and there is no question that much of it is driven by that. But there are also political entrepreneurs who use antizionism to get ahead: to gain social media followers, raise money, advance socially and professionally, or pursue political goals. States do the same: witness South Africa filing its case against Israel at the ICJ or China deploying antizionist propaganda online. When incentives align, antizionism gets used. And right now, antizionism is rewarded. It’s a crucial aspect of its growing popularity, and it’s really important that we understand it as we develop strategies to combat it.

@LekhtNaya @gabedrawsX What still remains unexplained is why the Soviet spent so much energy in this propaganda? Why were Jews such a threat to them? Who were they really targeting? @LekhtNaya

Dear, keep studying cos you evidently not there yet. Check out the facts and maybe learn the basics. Non combatants - journalists - whatever their affiliation are protected under int law even if you disagree with them. Israeli military has provided no evidence the Leb journalists were combatants as judged by Leb Pres; Leb Govt, multiple journo bodies, human rights gps,l

As a current journalism grad student, I am absolutely disgusted by @AlexCrawfordSky persistent disregard for even the most basic standards of ethical reporting. First off, @HonestReporting didn't CLAIM you "never said they had no Hezbollah affiliation." They criticized you for claiming @IDF "has offered no evidence" of #Hezbollah affiliation (pic 1). This is a point you have REPEATEDLY emphasized in your reporting on this attack (eg pics 2 & 3). And it is true you have "reported the widespread assertion this connection transgressed int law as they were journos NOT combatants." But you have NOT questioned THAT assertion or pointed out various Lebanese officials or groups like @hrw have THEMSELVES provided "no evidence" the deceased "journalists" are NOT militants (there are no "combatants" in noninternational armed conflict btw). Furthermore, as @AdamZivo @nationalpost has also pointed out in another QT to this same post, "By downplaying this association, and not acknowledging, for example, the plethora of Hezbollah flags at the funeral, you misled your audience (unintentionally or not)." Agreed. Not once have you connected the context you insist on reporting - that @Israel has provided "no evidence" of Hez affiliation - to the evidence right in front of your face, which your entire audience can see for ourselves, that the "journalists" WERE, in fact, Hezbollah members. Nor have you pointed out when doing so that belligerents have no obligation to provide "evidence" that a target was a civilian taking direct part in hostilities (pic 4 for DPH standard) in the first place. The net effect of all this #journalisticmalpractice is that you're going out of your way to spin anti-Israel, pro-terrorist sentiment in your reporting - all the while claiming what you're doing is "news." It's not. It's sheer propaganda. And as an emerging journalist, it absolutely disgusts me that anyone would regard what you're spinning as "journalism" when that's what I am also being trained to do. As I'm figuring out how to be a journalist, your work is a textbook example of what NOT to do. And for anyone looking for "the very essence of dishonest reporting," if they're looking at your work there's a pretty good chance they've found it.

Utterly incorrect and the very essence of dishonest reporting. I’ve never said they had no Hezbollah affiliation - patently ridiculous as one worked for an Hez-owned channel and the other was pro-Hez too. I reported the widespread assertion this connection transgressed int law as they were journos NOT combatants. Hez flags don’t make you combatants
