@HighImpactFlix I try to fast from Saturday dinner until Monday breakfast/lunch. Some weeks by Sunday lunch, I’m in tears. Some weeks I don’t notice until Monday lunch.
English

@mermaidwrites I had one for babies 1-3. #4 didn’t have one, but friend organized a gift drive, just not a shower. #5 had one from my aunt’s sorority because they wanted a reason to have a party. Gift drive was the best! No stupid games, no awkward presents. Was miserable at the showers.

@ernie_fink One of my characters has a novelty salt and pepper shaker set from a neighbor she was close to. She has very few sentimental things but that is one she kept with her wherever she moved.

@homemakinghunny That’s a great day! Unsolicited advice on ants (which can wait until Monday)- boil water to clean their trails and clean the ant trails and put cornstarch on cracks and entrances. Ants are a pain. I love ant baits but I my kids aren’t little and know not to touch them.
English

I’ve got the girl’s church outfits set out for tomorrow, my potential outfits set out, carrot cake baked oatmeal in the oven for tomorrow’s breakfast. Pie baked for tomorrow’s family dinner. Laundry mostly caught up. Bedsheets in the wash and bedroom tidied. Girl’s bedroom tidied. Managed to get out for a walk with baby earlier. Still dealing with ants so lots of vacuuming and spraying yet again.
A productive Saturday to prepare for a restful Sunday! There were pockets of rest in today too though.

@end3of6days9 Both kids that we got estimates for was well over 10k. Each had a two year plan and multiple steps. Their teeth don’t look horrible or cause problems.
English

This mom gets the estimate for her teenage son's braces and her reaction is pure, relatable shock.
She sits there staring at the paper: over $6,000 for full top-and-bottom braces. "What? Like who can afford over $6,000 for braces?" she says, voice cracking with disbelief.
Her son needs them for an overbite and just one or two crooked teeth—"his teeth aren't even that crooked"—but it's still full treatment. She thought maybe it was $1,900 or something (perhaps a down payment), but nope, the numbers are real.
He's got two insurances (one through mom, one through dad), yet the estimate only factors in dad's. She hopes hers kicks in more, especially since her daughter only needed top braces before. But even so, she's floored: "Oh my god, this can't be real. This can't be real. Parents, is this real?"
This is the everyday reality hitting so many families right now. A basic need like fixing your kid's teeth turns into a massive financial gut punch—thousands out of pocket, even with insurance, while you're already dealing with life’s other curveballs.
Kids shouldn't have to go without straight teeth and confidence because orthodontics costs more than a used car. Parents shouldn't have to choose between braces and bills.
Who's been hit with a braces quote that made you do a double-take? Or is this just what we Americans have to deal with in 2026?

@stephenRB4 Any and all 🤣🤪. Literally, all goals are celebrated. Every ref booed. Each fight! I love hockey but can’t cheer for just one team at a game.

@elizanane Seriously! I read it, love it! I prepare it for querying and hate it, so I start again. How do I know?

@JennMGreenberg I easily could do without chocolate cake or coconut. Yes, I know red velvet is just chocolate cake but it’s yummy and chocolate cake is gross.
English

Red Velvet cake has to go. It’s just a chocolate cake with not enough cocoa and red food coloring in it. Just make a chocolate cake. You can even put buttermilk and vinegar in it.

@littleapostate Grandparents were allowed to visit in the hospital. And at home, the first two weeks at home were family and those who dropped off a meal, even then, the visits were short.

How do I apply for this job? Love the ones who thank the bus driver! 🤣
