🇺🇸 @StateDept to ask for bonds of up to $15,000 for visa applications from a dozen more countries ‘Citizens from 12 additional nations must post bonds up to $15,000 starting April 2 as the Trump administration targets visa overstays’

As if the bias was not clear enough, @ByronTau edited my quote to remove the criticism of Biden. Here's what I sent him: Unlike the Biden administration - that was without a functioning president - in the Trump Administration, decisions are made by President Trump and senior administration officials and not by no-name bureaucrat leakers who whine to the press about not being consulted on highly classified operations.

The AP was clearly so desperate to attack the Trump admin that they are resorting to the words of disgraced former Biden ambassador “Yael Lempert.” Lempert is a registered Democrat and Democrat donor – who begged the Trump administration to remain Ambassador to Jordan.

Not a single person in the Iran office was affected by RIFs. It's disappointing that the @AP decided to denigrate the career foreign service officers and civil servants who currently lead the NEA bureau.

AP follows the @NOTUSreports piece on how the Trump administration had already gutted the State Dept’s staff of Middle East policy experts — and “eliminated the dedicated Iran office ..” @AP apnews.com/article/iran-s…

As we told @AP ahead of time, this story is not based in reality, but they wouldn't be deterred by the facts. We gave them detailed responses, but instead, they relied on vague and inaccurate criticism from unnamed or outside sources. Here is some of what we provided:

The only people who are privy to Cuba are President Trump and Marco Rubio. Your lazy reporters relied on uninformed sources who know nothing about what’s going on.

The expanded visa bond program saves the American taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars every year. It costs the U.S. taxpayer $18,000+ on average to remove an illegal alien from the country and this move will save taxpayers up to $800 million per year.

The visa bond program has already proven effective at drastically reducing the number of visa recipients who overstay their visas and illegally remain in the U.S. Nearly 1,000 visas under the program, and 97% of bonded travelers have returned home on time.

Susie Wiles epitomizes what it means to be a strong leader. She is also one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Susie led President Trump’s historic 2024 comeback campaign and is now spearheading the most successful administration in history. I know I speak for the President and the entire White House when I say that we are all praying for Susie and rallying behind her as she prepares to fight this battle against breast cancer. 💗

.@TreyYingst: Tens of thousands of Americans have been able to leave the Middle East as a result of efforts by @SecRubio to get Americans out of harm's way — at no cost. It’s been a very successful effort.

Over 43,000 American citizens have safely returned to the United States from the Middle East since February 28. Under President Trump and Secretary Rubio’s leadership, the Department of State has completed more than three dozen charter flights and has safely evacuated thousands of Americans from the Middle East. While commercial flight availability across the region continues to improve, Department of State charter flights and ground transport operations will scale down as seats available on the Department’s charter options are significantly greater than the demand from Americans in the region. On March 11, the Department of State contacted nearly 9,000 American citizens in the United Arab Emirates to offer U.S. government charter flights. Despite those efforts, those flights departed the UAE with available seats due to a lack of demand. Most Americans who requested assistance have declined assistance when offered, opting either to remain in country or book commercial flight options. Through the State Department’s 24/7 Task Force, we have directly assisted over 30,000 Americans abroad, offering security guidance and travel assistance. Americans in the Middle East who need assistance can call the U.S. Department of State, 24/7, at +1-202-501-4444. Given the remarkable successes and declining demand in the region, this will be the last daily update. The Department will continue to provide updates as needed.

Most Americans who have requested assistance have declined assistance when offered, opting either to remain in country or book more convenient commercial flight options. The State Department will continue to actively assist any American citizen who wishes to depart the Middle East, to do so.
