And Rodri's injuries this season have been off the ball, so going by your logic, Pep has mismanaged him. And KDB, Aguero for a lot of their career at City.

@MaxRadwan Think we feel we have bigger fish to fry. But we absolutely need to bask in this, because for most clubs, the biggest joys are going to be seeing their rivals fail. Most clubs aren't winning something every year.

As fanbase we need to relearn schadenfreude . Chelsea and Spurs fans have no trouble sticking the knife in at the mere possibility of us not winning one of the big two, but we basically let Chelsea, and to a degree Spurs, get off scot-free

@GeorgeV_AFC Can you imagine it was only 5 years ago that there were conversations among fans and in the media for Leicester to replace Arsenal in the big 6 and they'd just won the FA Cup? Time really flies.

@fplshere9992 @billycarpy My question was solely on squad usage. Injuries can be caused by any number of factors, including poor squad usage, gamestyle
But I'll humor you, is Pep's usage of Rodri why he seems to have 'broken down'? Are Bayern working Musiala/Davies to the bone causing them to break down?

One of my feelings is that top coaches have hacked the ideal role for FBs as the all-action, perpetually free man. But the physical demands are unsustainable, so you need a superhuman athlete to defy gravity, or PSG's luxury of playing them ~20x a year in league, or triples.

@GeorgeV_AFC But just like the stock of our players who are injured go up, so does alternate scenarios like Nwaneri on the wing, MLS in #10, Calafiori as CB, Norgaard starting in PL, etc. Only one that I wanted to happen more than it has was Eze on LW, even that's partly due to our injuries.

@GeorgeV_AFC If that was the plan, then getting a Saka backup was imperative. From that POV, Madueke has done well. Compare his output in all comps or PL+CL vs other backups, like Garnacho, Gittens, Elanga, Savinho, Diallo, he stands up to any of them. Only one outperforming him is CL Nelli.

While now it seems like I hear boos for performances that aren't even terrible on TV? Again, media narratives exist on both of those scenarios, but it's not a good look

Fans carry more power than they can admit.
We naturally are reactionary which is both a massive boost in good times + a hindrance in nervy times.
Controlling how consistent you are executing actions in different environments often determines success.

@MaxRadwan I've heard boos at half-time or full-time on TV after every half bad Arsenal performance since Jan. Not sure if that's the ground reality or not, but that's a bit much. Being antsy when we try to play out of the back doesn't hurt the players, but definitely doesn't help them

I find it so odd how this is being framed as Arsenal fans making the players nervous rather than it being the other way round. There was no nervousness in the crowd in previous seasons when we were actually capable of progressing the ball!

@billycarpy @YankeeGunner Even with triples, you have the issue that someone's season doesn't progress as intended (like MLS for us) or you have injuries and you pay with points/cup losses. Even PSG end up having to face a league title run in every once in a while, so what chance do the rest of us have?

@thearsfamily97 That was his one bad play in duels in the game. Not to fault Gyokeres in this game, but he didn't have a touch of the ball in the 15 mins he played and was beaten to a header by the same Bernardo Silva.
Most of the fanbase didn't take it easy on Havertz in his 1st season either.

The main issue with this clip to me is that the same people defending Havertz for this would 100% abuse Gyökeres is this EXACT same thing happened to him.
That has always been my issue with this discourse. There's always this need to defend Havertz and baby him even after 4 years at the club, yet there is such a hurry to chastise Gyökeres, a new striker, if he has the same play.
All I want is consistency.

Doesn't mean they don't need him. Also doesn't mean he's not someone fans and pundits target when City don't do well. That's the life of a true #9

@clivepafc @faraondefutbol @gunnerpunner Fwiw, I don't think you are that far off. Gyokeres definitely has a better mentality, which is why he's playing at the level he does. But I don't think Nketiah is far off Gyokeres in terms of raw talent and they're very similar profiles for us.
