Here's my take on the recently concluded test series between West Indies and Bangladesh:

@clivepafc @faraondefutbol @gunnerpunner Absolutely. The proof is in the goals he has scored. Most of Haaland's career at City hasn't been the 'peak City' that we talk about. Doesn't mean they don't need him. Also doesn't mean he's not someone fans and pundits target when City don't do well. That's the life of a true #9
English

@A_Jaywalker @faraondefutbol @gunnerpunner My view is and was - we need a CF profile in the club.
A true 9.
Merino Kai Jesus are sort of false 9 facilitators
VG is a true 9.
Now I’m not saying you have to love him but we need a 9 imho
English

@clivepafc @faraondefutbol @gunnerpunner Fwiw, I don't think you are that far off. Gyokeres definitely has a better mentality, which is why he's playing at the level he does. But I don't think Nketiah is far off Gyokeres in terms of raw talent and they're very similar profiles for us.
English

@faraondefutbol @gunnerpunner Ah mate please - context was VG is the CF reaplcement for Eddie the last true CF we had.
When it comes to comparisons I am not that skilled.

@J__Kaz @TomCantonMedia Kai had the same number of non penalty goals last season before injury as Viktor does this season in ~250 more mins. This is not even counting assists or how we play as a team when Kai plays or anything like that. Saying Kai would dream of those numbers is haughty without basis.
English

@TomCantonMedia Fair, Viktor has his flaws, but he also does have 18 goals in a “poor” season. Kai would dream of those numbers. Some of the constant bashing from other like LeGrove on Vik is disgusting especially now in the run in. We will need both to get over the line.
English

@Real1_balogun I don't think it's really a tough decision. Havertz has been as good as Gyokeres in front of goal for us. Havertz also combines better with other players and we play better with him in full form. Gyokeres has been mostly fit, and we'll need both if we're to do anything worthwhile
English

Gyokeres has scored 18 goals in 47 games this season.
Havertz scored 15 goals in 36 games last season before his injury. He was headed for a 20-goal season which would have been decent by his standards.
Gyokeres will also almost likely have a 20-goal season which is decent for an Arsenal striker who’s not Thierry Henry, Robin Van Persie or Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
But.
They give you with one hand and take from you with the other.
Havertz is wasteful. Gyokeres doesn’t show enough skill outside his ruthless shooting and heavy running. Against teams with quick and proactive defenders, he struggles to make it stick.
English

@pedroelchileno For what it's worth, he's not getting any younger (and I fully know I'm saying this of someone who's younger than me). CBs requiring to cover large spaces constantly shouldn't be how Arteta's Arsenal play anyway. I know it can be a weapon for CBs, but maybe we shouldn't abuse it
English

I am now pretty sure this is the case now.
His burst is completely gone.
Bielsista@pedroelchileno
Is Gabriel post injury not able to cover as many ground to his left side as he did in 2022-April 2025? Is this part of the reason we are not playing MLS or inverting Cala from the left side?
English

@Dylan_OCE @PoznanInMyPants I can flip that argument, Madrid fans boo their team because getting at least 1 trophy is their minimum. Why do we feel entitled to doom over every dropped point when we don't win stuff anyway? That's entitlement.
This season, the average online fan has absolutely lost their head
English

@A_Jaywalker @PoznanInMyPants The Real Madrid fans who boo after one loss are ridiculed because everyone knows they'll still probably win a trophy by the end of the season. Different to Arsenal fans despairing over a run of dropped points & cup exits knowing full well that it'll ultimately decide the season.
English

@clivepafc @Tactx_ @Jon_Mackenzie made a great point that it's possible that Martinelli not being a RW hurt him here, as he made the kind of movement he would if he were playing on LW, but it called for something different.
Of course, all he has to do is fucking look at Odegaard for instructions 🤷
English

@MaxRadwan Is it really copium if it'll put most Arsenal fans into a cardiac attack? Or is that your way of Thanos-ing a section of population?
English

@arsenalfami1y 7 point lead after 22 games each, where City lost to United and we had a chance to go 9 clear if we beat Forest away, but we drew 0-0 and stretched our lead to 7 points. That's the biggest gap we've had in the 2nd half of the season with equal games played.
English

@MaxRadwan Would actually be funny if they do a West Ham and scam point(s) here. Not happening, but would be very funny if it did.
English

Scotty Parker's brave Burnley boys have something for me (a respectable 2-0 defeat to keep the goal-difference chase alive)
𝙇𝙞𝙖𝙢@OfficialVizeh
Just to clarify if any Arsenal fans are hoping for a miracle on Wednesday Man City have beat Burnley 18 of our last 19 games with an aggregate of 63-7 Just don’t bother
English

@scottjwillis Definitely expected us to concede fewer than we have given our game model to be honest. For the kind of attacking and defensive firepower we have, conceding 22-23 goals in a season gives us our best chance of winning the title. This is very reductive, but just as a baseline.
English

@QulshTM @billycarpy @Jon_Mackenzie I think it's less about passing the buck and more about the situation. Martinelli after being beaten and having a 10 yard distance to make up isn't affecting that play anymore even if he runs back, so maybe you call the players behind the ball to cover up.
English

@A_Jaywalker @billycarpy @Jon_Mackenzie But also, how old is Martineli? Why are we passing the buck, always? To ask more of Saliba, given what he has given this season and what is riding on this game, is crazy. Equivocation is passing accountability!
English

@billycarpy @Jon_Mackenzie Don't see how that solves the eventual situation. Timber/White push up, leave Doku free, Saliba pushes over, leaving Haaland on a 1v1 with Gabriel anyway? Am I missing any personnel from either side in the situation?
English

@Jon_Mackenzie Kept wondering if Timber/White would have just backed it up immediately (even if a mistake) and had Saliba swing over. What do you think?
English

@RohanJivanAFC If your point is the money involved, then there are just too many players who feel expensive for what they bring to the table. City have Marmoush who didn't even come off the bench, he was 60m
Unless your point was to buy Cherki, value proposition in attack is a thing of the past
English

@RohanJivanAFC If you're saying that with those players, we are not the Arsenal we know, I'd say that was the point: to go for different profiles. What we wanted at that price was very high impact subs, but these guys have ended up playing a lot of important mins & that's our misfortune.
English

Early morning thoughts
Going into the Etihad not starting our £60M striker and there being serious debate on whether £50M Madueke should start too tells you everything.
And my stance was that I wouldn’t have started Madueke or Gyokeres. The former was rightly hooked and we need to have a conversation on what he’s served up this season.
Ultimately, this is all a telling indictment of our attacking recruitment in the summer.
English

@pedroelchileno Yeah, he's always been competitive without being dirty and he can take it as well as he dishes out. He's generally a class act.
English

@pedroelchileno @LyesBouzidi10 ye but Haaland scored so to average twitter user one is rubbish Chelsea reject for 65m and other one is machine
