I just got back from Cuba, where I visited a maternity ward with premature babies whose lives depend on incubators and ventilators — equipment that is at risk with energy shortages.
The U.S. is effectively bombing Cuba's entire energy infrastructure. We must stop this cruelty.

I fucking hate the Newsoms, but they didn’t “choose” a “trad” lifestyle, it is what they are, they enjoy their freedom to do so.
And that’s the same thing they espouse for *most* other Americans.

What I find interesting about the Newsoms is that they both relentlessly promote liberal/left ideologies that are corrosive to family formation and undermine traditional values. However, at the same time, they've been in a heterosexual marriage for 20+ years and have 4 children together. By those measures, they are more "trad" in terms of their own lifestyle than most Americans are, even a lot of conservatives aren't married with 4 kids. So what that tells me is the Newsoms KNOW that the traditional family model is the best; that's why they chose it when they both could've chosen anything else. But as elites they still promote insidious ideologies that end up harming the ordinary people who listen to them. It's a perfect illustration of "luxury beliefs."

For all we talk about him, Platner still has a relatively low follower count and is pretty much unknown outside of VOL political circles. He has the advantage in Maine because Janet Mills is nearly invisible and he’s been campaigning a lot, and it’s now becoming clear she’s going to drop out (@JordanWood i wish you could save this seat). Maybe next time we won’t let Chuck drive the bus considering he did this with Andrew Cuomo who made the exact same mistake.

Not to sound like a broken record but the people advocating for and defending Hasan are defending an atmosphere where Democrats remain the center of all criticism, which continues to provide people an excuse not to vote for them, or not to vote. The people they want him to bring in ARE these people. They’re just horses of a different color, they don’t have coherent worldviews beyond that they hate democracy and liberalism. But they think they do, which makes them dangerous, because anyone who adheres to dogmatic ideology is dangerous. To invite that in would be death. We need to erase it from the public sphere and return it to the fringes where it belongs. It’s the only way people will begin thinking rationally again.
This is literally how mobs work. You establish a permission structure for hysteria and fear targeted at a nebulous villain who is being mischaracterized. There will always be people with low emotional IQ who are easily manipulated into fear and outrage. You don’t reward the grifters who do it.
Harold Hill didn’t deserve his happy ending because he accidentally tricked the children into learning the basics of their instruments. He deserved it because he learned to put other people’s needs before his own and realized he should use his gifts to help them, not just himself.

@RedMedia_us My sister is going through the same BS.. She was treated differently than white co-workers. She was fired after saving someone's life. Instead of giving her an award, they terminated her. They then falsified records to justify her termination, on days she didn't work.

A Black woman in Fresno, La-Kebbia “Kiki” Wilson who was called an “entitled N-word” by her supervisor has been awarded $15.4 million after seven years in court.
According to the case records, her supervisor used that slur, accused her of using her race to her advantage, and treated her differently than other employees.

A little extra legroom and a free Dasani on a domestic flight is not being an oligarch. He’s also flied back and forth from DC to VT every week for decades, I’m sure he has tons of miles that allow him a free upgrade whenever there’s space.
