#QuizWithBobby #OnThisDay 1661, Oliver Cromwell was taken from his grave and “executed” on anniversary of the execution of Kings Charles I. Cromwell's head was displayed on a pole until about 1685. Upon his 1658 death, which of his 9 children replaced him as Lord Protector?

John Noakes is trending and I can't think of him without seeing this. Truly terrifying and I'm still mesmerised by this 47 years later.

#OTD 1977: John Noakes scaled Nelson's Column, on a wobbly ladder... with no safety harness...and no helmet...wearing flares... to clean some pigeon poo. Don't try this. Anywhere. Ever.

The English countryside in 1910 and a rare example of a clapper stile gate. The horizontal beams are attached at the centre and normally kept in place by weights, so you can create a low point by pushing down on the other end.

I know it's a running joke that dads are obsessed with turning the thermostat down, but I'm currently living in my parents' house because my dad is unwell and he fiddled with the thermostat using his phone app FROM HOSPITAL.

Ever wonder why side roads look narrower and there aren't enough in-line parking spaces these days?

#OnThisDay 16th Jan 1854: the first GWR trains departed from the current London Paddington site. To celebrate, the opening titles of the greatest *ever* portrayal of Miss Marple: Margaret Rutherford in “Murder She Said” (1961), based on Agatha Christie’s “4:50 from Paddington”…

Because a few of you have asked, it’s time for my regular answer to “How did they go to the loo in those #Frockingfabulous dresses?” The answer is, “they used a bourdaloue”. Handily, Francois Boucher painted a gal putting one to good use!
