Chuffed to hear our Vale of Rheidol Railway news (about “Sotillos” from ‘Collection X’ being out of the barns and displayed publicly for the first time in 60 years) on @greensignallers podcast this week! Just adding “irrepressible” to my CV, thanks @railnigel … ;)

@MrTimDunn is thst the Higgins? have been to the Higgins but remember no airships
English

don’t get too excited, but most of this week’s newsletter is a LONG READ on a BIG QUESTION: whatever happened to airships…?
First, though - on Burnham, Starmer and the audacity of hope.

@LondonHistorian @cityoflondon It was 30 degrees in the shade in the City yesterday. I think most people are over the performative display of ties at this point
English

@cityoflondon Did he get mugged for his tie??

Congratulations to #AdrianDunbar on receiving the Freedom of the City of London today, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to drama and support for emerging acting talent.
🎭 From Line of Duty’s Ted Hastings to an acclaimed career across stage and screen, including Ridley, My Left Foot, The Crying Game, and Richard III, this is a fitting tribute. 👏

@JasonSBingley @BucksRailCentre I will feed your comment back to the centre management team.
English

@MrTimDunn @BucksRailCentre If only they hadn't done away with the reduced season tickets for local families, they would have much greater support and attendance.
English

Chuffing ace trip to @BucksRailCentre: thank you team for showing president Lord Faulkner and I round. Met No.1 has been reassembled pending full survey, the only NYC Subway car in Europe is now a cafe-diner, several model railways on display & cab rides too! Do visit if you can

💥In sad news, we've received an update that Sheringham's charming 'Streamline Moderne' bus shelter was demolished today. We understand it will be replaced with a modern equivalent.
Locals ran a strong campaign to try save the much loved 1950's shelter

I don’t know Phil, but I didn’t do it to draw wider attention apart from within Chiltern to the issues that customers were facing. I don’t have a control to measure against, but given that I asked for the thread to be fed back internally, I’d hope that anyone’s would if they asked. My opinion has no more worth than any other: and i suspect Chiltern agrees with that
English

@MrTimDunn @chilternrailway Sad thing is, if you weren't THE Mr Tim, on the cusp of a knighthood for services to architecture and railways if there was any justice in this world, you wouldn't receive service like that - it would be simply ignored. or maybe it's just me...
English

@chilternrailway hi. 1513 from AVP was on time, then shown delayed, then disappeared from board. No staff at station, no info on your service changes in Twitter or your website map. Bus to Aylesbury pulled in and disappeared again, there’s no timetable at your supposed integrated transport hub.
All of this is frankly poor. If you cut staff to cut costs then at least give us reliable information. No idea if there’s going to be a 1613 either. Do I trust the display boards?
Your team needs to do better.
English

@peterjvandoorn @chilternrailway As you’ll note, the help point didn’t actually work, even if I’d wanted to be weird. I’m cross Peter because I work for the railway and get cross when basic things that customers should expect aren’t being done properly. Even the follow up Customer Service tweet was unhelpful.
English

@MrTimDunn @chilternrailway I do hope you opened with “do you know to whom you are speaking?” 😉

After 200 years of hand-wringing about a Channel tunnel enabling another French invasion, it is fitting that in 2026 it IS the Channel Tunnel which has enabled the army of William, Duke of Normandy, to cross the water yet again and head unchallenged up to London. #bayeuxtapestry

English

I did check that, as I noted in the original message. For info, it was not in the search for AVP to MYB, and there was and is nothing mentioned on this page. All it needs is a staff to make an announcement from Control to the hapless passengers. Please feed all this thread back because it’s a customer experience failure on a number of levels.

English

@MrTimDunn Hi Tim, I'm sorry your journey has been affected, for the latest information about our services please see our journey check webpage via - journeycheck.com/chilternrailwa…. ^CN
English

@chilternrailway While I’m on this disappointing experience, the PIS board says 1613 “on time” but the audio announcement tells us that the 1613 is delayed. I don’t understand how data is conflicting. If a third party like @RealtimeTrains can tell me how late it is now, why can’t the operator?
English

@chilternrailway I tried the Help Point, too. Because surely this connects to someone who can help? Oh. I don’t often get cross with the railway because we’re all under a lot of pressure, but I’m not the only person on this platform who thinks that this is not a customer-focused railway operation. Come ON this is basic easy stuff to fix
