NEW: NASA says that people along the coast of San Diego County in California might hear a sonic boom Friday afternoon when the Orion capsule carrying the Artemis II crew re-enters the atmosphere, wrapping up its historic trip around the moon. The boom may be loud enough to rattle windows when the capsule re-enters the atmosphere shortly before 5 p.m, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports

Hello Hamzy, the question you’ve asked is enlightening… I have been on this cosmos topic since the past three days and it’s been interesting so far. First of all, you have to completely change how you view the concept of "down". In our daily lives, we are used to thinking that down means dropping towards the bottom of the universe. However, space does not have a floor or a ceiling. There is no universal up or down. Down is just the direction gravity pulls you. And the gravity of the Earth pulls everything directly toward its own center. So for the people living in that red circle at the bottom of the globe, they do not feel like they are hanging upside down. Gravity is pulling their feet straight into the core of the planet. When they look up, they see the sky just like you do. To them, you are the one who is upside down. And as for the spin, the Earth is spinning at over a thousand miles an hour at the equator. With that, you would naturally think a spin that fast would fling us off into space like a fast playground merry go round. But the Earth is incredibly massive. Because of that huge size, its gravitational pull is overwhelmingly stronger than the outward push of the spin. Gravity holds us down tight to the surface, and the spin is nowhere near strong enough to break that tight grip. It may look impossible for someone looking at a picture, but the core of the Earth is the magnet that keeps the whole system working. I hope this answers your question. Thank you.

@YinKysmileS @juskems So the parachutes are deployed at a much lower altitude different from the altitude having the intense heat requiring the heat shield by the Orion capsule?

Great question 👀 The key thing is this: the parachutes are never exposed to that extreme heat. During re-entry, the capsule is protected by a heat shield that takes the full force of the heat (thousands of degrees). This phase slows the spacecraft down dramatically. By the time parachutes are deployed: The capsule has already dropped from ~25,000 km/h to much lower speeds The intense heating phase is over The outer structure has cooled enough for safe deployment Also, the parachute system is protected inside compartments and only released when conditions are safe. So they’re not opening parachutes into fire. They’re deploying them after the most dangerous part is already over.

The Artemis II astronauts will NOT return to Earth in the same rocket that takes them to space. I’ve always been fascinated with rockets, space, and astronomy for a long time, and I’ve watched quite a lot of videos on space missions, so I know this. But what made it hit differently? My son knew it too. And it genuinely surprised me the first time he mentioned it at the start of this Artemis II journey. We have both been following this mission closely, watching updates, checking NASA streams, and talking about it almost every day. Every time my son comes back from school, one of his first questions is: “Where are the astronauts now?” That curiosity, that excitement, it’s been something special to watch. His passion for rockets, space, astronomy, and planets began last year, and he has read a decent number of books on these in school. During one of our conversations, he said something that made me pause. He started explaining, in his own way, how the rocket that takes astronauts to space isn’t the same thing that brings them back. Hearing him say it, with that level of understanding at his age, hit differently. Because he was right. That massive rocket you see at launch, NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), it’s not their ride home. It’s just a launch vehicle built for one job: to generate enough power to escape Earth’s gravity and send astronauts toward the Moon. Once it does that, it’s done. Stage by stage, parts of the rocket fall away, burn up, or fall back to Earth. Meanwhile, the astronauts continue their journey in a much smaller spacecraft called the Orion capsule, the real vehicle they live in during the mission. So what actually brings them back from a journey around the Moon? That same capsule. Not the giant rocket. When the Artemis II crew returns, Orion will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere at speeds over 25,000 km/h. At that speed, the air around it turns into plasma, literally a shell of fire surrounding the spacecraft. The only thing standing between the astronauts and extreme heat is a specially engineered heat shield, one of the most critical pieces of the entire mission. Then comes the slow-down: Parachutes deploy. The capsule stabilizes. And it splashes down in the ocean. No runway. No smooth landing. Just precision, physics, and survival engineering. Then, recovery teams move in by ship and helicopter to bring them home. Even in one of humanity’s most advanced missions to the Moon, space travel still isn’t like flying a plane. It’s a system. A handoff. A carefully designed journey where one machine gets you there… and another brings you back. And sometimes, it takes the curiosity of a child to remind you just how incredible it all is. Space travel isn’t a round-trip vehicle It’s a controlled fall back to Earth.

The Artemis II crew had the rare chance to see a solar eclipse from space. 🚀🌘☀️ This video stitches together views from Orion's solar array wing cameras throughout the eclipse, showing the Sun as it disappears behind the Moon, revealing a glowing halo around the lunar disk.

@ChukwuebukaSM @Joshharold9 @DrJoeAbah @asemota @grok That isn't logic sir. Inasmuch as I believe there is a Supreme being, this your analogy makes no sense. That's it's common sense for the inability to show evidence of something's absence means it's present. That is too false.

@AgadaMathi99698 @HorusbtcOf @NASA You have misunderstood. This is a long exposure of the milky way. If the moon, earth or sun were in this image it would be extremely bright relative to weak light of the stars. Light and cameras works exactly the same on earth. Poverty is the worst thing that can happen to anyone tbvh. Fight it at what cost legit. I've been observing this for a while now and wish i could change things. There's this big babe in this compound that stays alone...if I'm not exaggerating, she can't be more than 24 years old. She works and seemingly earns well. The gateman in the compound, on the other hand, should be 20 years older, with a wife and children. What pains me is how this small madam tenant sends this man up and down. She can call the gateman 10 times from downstairs to come and carry her dustbin, wash her clothes, buy her crayfish,😏 etc., and end up giving him 500huns or 1k. Just asbwe see in niaja films. A man old enough to be your uncle....i rebuke that thing! And you'll see Mr Felix running those yama yama errands smiling just because of 500 hundi....the extra 500huns gives him joy. Nothing hurts me more💔💔💔. Felix's salary is just 50k yet, his job is to man the gate yet, he does all other manual labour just so his family will be fed, he sweeps the whole compound every morning, washes the cars of all the younger men living in this compound, puts on and takes off the borehole all these just for peanuts. Nothing hurts me more than seeing a full-grown man at this age being tossed around by everyone much younger than him just for money not enough to strafe a very good pvssy‼️‼️‼️

Christianity is a really funny religion, man… Imagine thinking that whatever it is that created this majestic and possibly infinite universe, in all its complexity, scale, and structure, impregnated a Jewish girl somewhere in Palestine 2,000 years ago,can get jealous of other gods, can regret its actions, can command one tribe to commit genocide against another, endorses slavery, gets angry, thinks blood sacrifice is a rational route to forgiveness and creates eternal suffering for people who do not believe very unconvincing stories in a book. Think about how completely ridiculous that leap is. Christianity (and its little sister, Islam, which believes the language of this concept of a creator is Arabic…in light of the thousands of beautiful and rich languages on the planet) really is an insult to whatever majestic being created the universe, if there is indeed one. And images like these below actually solidify the position of atheists or the non-religious…in fact, it is exactly why they are atheists. The sheer majesty and complexity of the universe don’t push atheists or any rational, non-indoctrinated mind, for that matter toward religion…It often does the opposite. It highlights just how implausible and, at times, absurd many religious doctrines appear by comparison. Because they hold such a concept…that which would create this universe…to such a high standard, that organized religions and their books, when you read them, end up looking really, really silly.

Dear @victorosimhen9 I have a lot to say, but I’ll keep it simple. Before you, there was Obafemi Martins (OBA Goal) and Odion Ighalo. They made millions from football. They were kings in their prime. Everyone wanted to be around them in Lagos. Today, they’ve retired. This game doesn’t last forever. My point? Don’t let them milk you. You have a few years left before you retire, use them wisely.

Actually Nigeria is proof of Gods existence. The problem is atheists think God is a fairy godmother with a magic wand who grants good wishes only. No! God is the master of FREEWILL. He has given mankind the room to make choices. Our problems in Nigeria are all man made. We don’t need prayer or fasting to solve them. God gave us oil (wealth), guess what we’ve done? We have consecutively allowed the most greedy Nigerians remain in power when we can remove them. God won’t come and do this for us, we have the hands and voices. God gave us natural occurring resources eg Gold in Zamfara, Iron in so many other states, we decided to let our greedy leaders use insecurity to mine our resources and sell for their wealth. What do you want God to do, when your fellow Nigerians are licking the ass cracks of politicians? God is not a wish granting genie. He gives you the resources to bake a cake, and he’ll leave you to either bake the cake or watch you make puff puff and keep complaining.
Ebele@ebelee_

I’m so sorry yeah, but Nigeria is all the evidence you need that God doesn’t exist. The people who are suffering pray more than those making them suffer. Explain that to me please
