"Offense is trying to create space. That's what an offense tries to do, is create space — If you can create space, you can do lots of good things. Defense is trying to restrict space... everything you do on offense should be designed to create space." - Mike Leach

Motion should do more than move a body. Hal dives into using eye candy to create free releases, isolate matchups, and make the defense sort it out fast.

Every middle school and high school should have access to at least one full-time: -Registered Nurse (RN) -Athletic Trainer (AT) -Licensed Counselor -Registered Dietitian (RD) -Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) to lead workouts for athletes and students These medical, mental health, and fitness professionals can work collaboratively to support all students not just athletes. By teaching proper lifting technique, sound nutrition, injury prevention, and safe return-to-learn and return-to-play practices, we set students up for lifelong health and resilience. When kids are strong, nourished, supported, and educated, we reduce injuries, improve mental health, enhance academic performance, and create healthier school communities. If we invest in the health of our youth now, we build a stronger, healthier future. Thank you for your time and attention.

Here is the call sheet Sawyer Robertson carried in his wallet since 2022. Robertson idolized leach growing up in Lubbock, got to play for him, then was lost when Leach died. A meaningful gift for sure. (that’s cool @SawRobertson12, I didn’t want it anyway) espn.com/nfl/draft2026/…

This might be the best gift I have ever received… a real Mike Leach call sheet!! Thank you so much Sawyer, this means the world to me.

Sometimes the best adjustments are the simplest ones. Hal Mumme on an easy way to create space, run vertical stress, and turn the back into a problem for the defense. airraidwarroom.com

Transition Drill- both WRs run a hitch expecting the ball, one gets the throw while the other has to quickly transition into a blocker downfield. Working on turning from WR to blocker while the ball carrier focuses on reading blocks and scoring. #wideoutwednesday

A simple adjustment can change the picture fast. Hal Mumme shows how fast motion and a speed cut out can soften coverage, force hesitation, and create space, without changing the offense. Great teaching like this lives inside the Air Raid War Room. airraidwarroom.com

Situational Football awareness seems to be something that separates the average coaches from the good coaches. Practice the situations with your team. Here is the list of situations I used to make practice plans over the course of the year. Maybe it can help someone out today.

“The motion is the play action.” Hal Mumme on how to create backfield stress without taking the quarterback’s eyes off coverage. That’s the kind of detail that turns a concept into a weapon.

Y-Cross isn’t just a concept. It’s a coverage tool. Most teams run it the same way every time. That’s why it becomes predictable. The best teams adjust it based on: • Coverage • Leverage • Defender reaction Same concept. Different answers. Example: Vs Cover 2 → sit/dig becomes primary Vs Cover 3 → cross works through windows Vs Man → cross wins with separation Now the QB isn’t guessing. He’s reacting to structure. If your concepts don’t change based on coverage… They’re not complete.

Mike Leach would have entire practices where he only called 4 Verts. No matter what the coverage or situation, they had to find a way to execute.
