#OnThisDay 1944 @RCAF_ARC F/O Hal Freeman (198 Sqn RAF) was killed in an attack on a German radar station near Jobourg, south of the northwest tip of the Cotentin peninsula. This fatal mission in advance of #DDay almost led to a Victoria Cross for Hal, but it wasn’t to be. 1/

One thing I found especially moving at the Juno Beach Centre was a rolling screen dedicated to Canada's Fallen of the Second World War. It takes 13-and-a-half hours to list them all.

🚨 SECRETARY RUBIO: If NATO is just about us defending Europe if they’re attacked, but them denying us basing rights when we need them, then that’s not a very good arrangement. That’s a hard one to stay engaged in and say this is good for the United States.

I find the rhetoric around Trudeau’s decade-old “Post-National state” comment hilarious. Those who keep referring to it tend to be consumed with a hatred of Trudeau. Sure, it was an ambiguously silly statement by Trudeau. But those obsessing about it just look silly themselves.
