It’s a strange irony that streets that were shaped by nature and the random movements of human beings have much more life than the centrally planned ones that were deliberately designed by expert architects and city planners.
(These photos are from a small city in southern Holland called Den Bosch, where the street layouts follow the curves of canals that’ve been there for centuries).

The best pieces of writing advice I can come up with after doing it every day for five years:
1) If your ideas are boring, get a life.
2) If you already have a life and your ideas are still boring, you’re not listening carefully enough.

@BethanyJarmul I only have a (non-literature) BA, but in addition to writing, am sortof turning the tables lately - helping academics tell their stories using language the rest of us might actually enjoy.
