@marky_7 The referee in this game had his back to the offence, he had absolutely no clue what did not did not happen. The decision was given on advice from the 4th official. You cannot blame the referee in this instance.

VAR was not involved in this decision, it was given by the 4th official. VAR opted not to get involved, presumably because they did not deem it a clear and obvious error, so the on field decision, which was advised by the 4th official stood. Motherwell fans absolutely up in arms about this for some reason, it's blatantly cheating, he got caught, and get got done for it. No idea what the complaints are about. Yes, simulation happens every week in every game, but players generally do not get sent off as a result of it. It simply shouldn't be possible given all the tech we have in place. Penalties are no longer given for simulation either, because VAR is there to protect the on field officials. The failing here is that VAR did not intervene, when it absolutely should have, but Motherwell are not the first team to fall foul of a failure of that system, nor will they be the last. St.Mirren might well have went on to lose that game, we were 3-0 down after all with only half an hour to play, but equally we could still be relegated and the two further goals we lost playing a man down that night could yet play a factor in that. It's cheating, he got caught, he got punished. A two game ban is hardly the end of the world, and that's all it will be unless he does it again. No idea why it's such a big fucking issue.

But VAR re-referee’d this… A red card was “correctly given” due to the intent of the St Mirren player… Why punish us now when the decision was correct at the time?

@pieandbov Don't disagree with it at all along with many of my fellow Motherwell supporters. Will be annoyed if this is not the norm going forward. This needs to be stamped out of the game
