During the last Gilded Age, the robber barons founded universities, museums, libraries, etc., to discourage workers from organizing & staging a revolution. We know this because they wrote it all down in letters to each other, congratulating themselves on being very clever.

Or downtown to Hamilton? I see your point but I’d say we need more not less

After 10 years Washington DC is shutting down the streetcar to save money. Could @CityOfCincy do the same to deal with a growing budget deficit? The Cincinnati Connector costs the city about $6 mil per year to move an average of 2700 people a day from OTR to Downtown.

It’s so you don’t HAVE to walk the whole way. Especially coming back up from the banks it’s uphill.
It’s a convenience that costs less than $24 per person per year.

If one went over the river to Newport & Covington back to downtown, but good luck getting that done unfortunately.
And 6 mil between 300k residents is only like $20 bucks a person a year.

@ApplegateVince Reds and Bengals games are its most useful days, but to my knowledge there is no ramp-up in service on those high-pedestrian days. You’ll wait the same 15 minute intervals (at least) as you would on a deserted weekday mid-morning

The points not to take cars off the road either. It’s so if you live downtown & work downtown you don’t need a car at all. Every over 75k should have them, but big Auto bootlickers took them out in the 50s
