@qataharraymond @a_m_patrick This!! I was really hoping that the moderators interrogated more deeply the federalism question which seemed like a big theme, and what it means for security, democracy, macro & microeconomics, etc.

Also keen to hear from Mabirizi; top of mind Africa’s federated govts are Ethiopia, Nigeria and Somalia - each has had a civil war in the last decade. Does federalism lead to increased security? How? #NTVPresidentialDebate2025

@charlesgava_256 I expected the moderator to then engage him on his response, not stick to his own things. Moderation is different from interviewing. Engage and interrogate the substance - it is not right to be inflexible with your questions. Nalwoga is doing a better job at that.

@charlesgava_256 Actually, that’s an example of what moderators should not do. It was clear he wanted the answer to be the USA - and tried to box the candidate into saying that. He was right to mention the UAE - which is also federal.

@beewol Actually, I was impressed by how Mabirizi handled that. He is right to ask which specific declaration was being referred to, because there is indeed more than one. The moderator needs to revisit what it means to moderate a debate. It is not a stage to embarrass the candidate.

"Are you aware about the Malabo Declaration? Are you aware about the Abuja Declaration?" Problems have arrived for Mabirizi? 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Am I the one who’s shortsighted, or do many of the arguments in Ssemakadde’s defense collapse on their own terms? His flaws are not surface level irritants; they are so fundamental that they undercut everything he claims to stand for. The Erron episode and the twins’ accounts go

Well done @pdpoUG and @Birikujja! The data protection landscape in Uganda is changing for the better with these new developments. Hopefully, all data collectors, controllers and processors can start to take compliance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act very seriously.

If you’re a data protection and privacy enthusiast, kindly note that @pdpoUG has delivered an excellent decision on a complaint against Google’s data collection and processing activities in Uganda - and its violation of the Data Protection and Privacy Act.
