Who actually wants to spend their entire working life doing the same job in a factory? Also, I suspect that Lutnick hasn't worked a single day in a factory his entire life, and he never will.
unusual_whales@unusual_whales

Lutnick: It's time to train people not to do the jobs of the past, but to do the great jobs of the future. This is the new model where you work in these kinds of plants for the rest of your life, and your kids work here and your grandkids work here

All this racist stuff is a reaction to national leadership abandoning the mainstream civic nationalism that ~90% of people actually want. Bring that back, almost all of it ends.

Two things that people online get consistently wrong now: 1) Criticism of bad speech is not censorship. It's also speech. 2) Supporting a legal right to say hateful stuff does not require defending the content of the bad speech or associating with the person who says it.

@greg_ip Hasn't the dollar de-valued compared to other currencies? That would make the stock market go up. Stock may be worth more dollars, but it's still less overall.

I was wondering why she hadn’t been confirmed yet. Apparently @DoctorJanette graduated from a Caribbean medical school but led everyone to believe her degree was from University of Arkansas.

20% tariffs are a massive challenge for small businesses. 145% isn’t a tariff--it’s prohibition. Small biz that face this have effectively stopped doing business, putting at risk American jobs, businesses, revenue and profits. Let’s say a biz buys their product from China and its landed cost is $100. If it sells that direct to consumers for $165, that is $65 to cover staff, from design to photography to marketing, as well as rent, and other overhead costs, and have some modest profit margin, on which it pays taxes. The 145% tariff takes the product cost from $100 to $245. Selling at the normal product price would incur an $80 loss per item! If the biz increases the price to cover the tariffs, few customers will pay $245 for a $165 product: even if they did, that would leave no money for the business to cover its expenses. So, many small businesses are just stuck waiting, doing no business, taking in no revenue to pay their employees and contractors, let alone themselves. Tomorrow begins national small business week. Let’s call on the administration to ensure that small businesses aren’t put out of business by government mandate.

I don't know if Fetterman is ok or not, and these days I typically don't let the internet lay out only two opinions to choose from. But the people who are concern trolling about his health now 100% do not give a shit about his welfare, only his vote.

Sen. Tom Cotton: “What we need from the president is to get out of this mindset of trying to end the war. Instead, we need to help Ukraine win the war. And they're only gonna win if we continue to supply them with the weapons that they're asking for.” (2022)

Question: “You support terrorism?” Hasan Piker’s response: “I don’t support the state of Israel and I don’t support the state of the United States of America.” This is the face of the progressive movement in the U.S.—no wonder they keep losing.

Let there be even the slightest wisp of a shred of a hint that Fetterman could be replaced by a Republican, & all talk of him resigning or facing a primary will vanish & be completely memory-holed.

I kind of think that having the government fund news sources is dangerous and a bad idea and if this Administration doesn’t convince you of the potential for mischief/malice I don’t know what to say.
