There is nothing better as a coach than respectfully talking to an umpire between innings about something you think he missed and him saying I’m sorry coach I might’ve missed that one and everyone just respectfully goes about the game. Nobody has an ego or puts on some sort of lisaing contest. Nobody has to have rabbit ears or pretend their the reason everybody came to the game. Salute to those guys.

When you swing up (intentionally) you are fighting gravity. Barrel goes down then up. Loopy. This is why we (former players and analysts who actually played at a high level) and not you or any other TikTok hitting guys say what we say about the art form that is hitting a baseball. When your hands start high and on plane with pitch, then work “down” through it with the hands, the barrel planes out and you match the plane of the pitch. (Launch angle) Now it kinda blows MY mind when someone who has never done it starts chirping saying we don’t know what we are talking about. Hitting is feel, and you can bring all the data you want, which is important to a certain extent, but, the feel of the bat going down through the zone is actually what allows the barrel to match the correct plane (launch angle for the nerds). Sure you can get away with a swinging up feel when guys are throwing 70. But try it when you facing 95. Good luck.

@DetvrsEverybody @JLucroy20 Just watch Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds swing, the concept is understood from people who know what it means. It’s misunderstood by people who don’t understand where it’s originated and what it actually means. Your hands start high and the top hand guides the down through and up.

U know my thoughts! Piss poor technique with runners on base! Blocking is difficult! But when your on a knee it limits your range and mobility and thats what we saw. Save your knees and frame that low pitch my ass! Raise the motherfu…. stadards! Load management is for pussies!

Clearly it’s more difficult to block the ball from a 1 knee stance!

With the amount of gizmos, gadgets, data and analytics college coaches are now featuring with player development.
A reasonable person would assume they would understand limiting strikeouts offensively and limiting walks defensively would be overly obvious in the pursuit of winning.
Although it seems like the mad scientist laboratories are only being used to advance showcase measurables and not things that contribute to actually playing the game more fundamentally.
I know this is too basic and they wouldn't be trend setters if they focus on the basics.

Georgia Tech has the most dynamic offense in the country.
Why?
They have walked or been hit by pitch more than they strikeout.
Almost unheard of for a team to do this.
It advertises they have the best and most unselfish approach in the country.
Have any other teams in the country walked or been hit by pitch more than they strikeout.
Look at your favorite teams stats and see if they've done it. They're probably not even close.
Georgia Tech has an approach and they are all in.

Another high school coach said to me this week:
“You see kids committing D1 off exit velo, ‘upside’ and showcases…
Then you check the H.S. stats—and they’re hitting in the .100s.”
He asked:
“If you’re a D1 guy, shouldn’t you be lighting up H.S. pitching?”
