@ryanjhaas So from May ‘16 to April ‘22, the population increased 6.2% (612k to 650k) while person crimes increased 25.8% (8,897 to 11,194) & property crimes increased 26.9% (49,473 to 62,790) Even adjusting for a 6% population increase, a 26% increase in crime is significant and alarming.

Small clarifying addendum to this thread yesterday, these are *percentage point* increases. So, the percent of the population experiencing these crimes.

Now let's look at the most recent data we have: April '21-'22. Population: 650,380 (2020 census) Person crimes: 11,194 Property crimes: 62,790 That puts person crimes at 1.72% of population. Property at 9.65%. An increase of 0.27% and 1.57%, respectively. (5/x)
