@Culture3ase The thing I always loved about Spider-Man, even from an early age, was tabulating his domestic box office gross.

@ProfofEvil “Superman” is not some aristocratic title to be bestowed on him when he’s come of age, and it’s not a revelation he has after a visit from an archangel or the Holy Spirit. It’s an identity he invented because he saw the world needed it

I wonder if I'm such an atheistic grump that the idea of 'Superman as destiny' rubs me the wrong way. I think it works better when he's not told about this thing before he starts wearing the tights and cape. He's just some weird kid trying to express himself.

@kidomaki_real @TomMCJL To be fair there were other movies, like Star Trek Into Darkness and the Transformers films, which also indulged in this kind of disaster porn. But doing it in a superhero movie was a turning point for the genre

@BobAlGreene @TomMCJL Dummy thinks this movie is the reason why they put scenes like that in movies now😂 im pretty sure it’s because of the reaction to the movie by fools like yourself lol.

@BobAlGreene @TomMCJL ngl thats a silly take, ts is not needed and its not even in comics even. it just watrs down the purpose of the movie and gives it a parody like feel. i do wish that in this movie superman had been truly distraught when there was some sort of damage that could have cost lives

@BobAlGreene @TomMCJL No, your immaturity and need for a cartoon character instead of a realistic take is why they put those scenes in movies. "Waaah, I don't want super heroes to ever have to hurt anyone."

@rapata13 @TomMCJL Avengers 1 does not show men women and children being violently massacred by the thousands. Avengers 2 makes evacuation and civilian rescue a major plot point, and the Avengers’ failure to minimize collateral damage has a lasting impact across the franchise

@BobAlGreene @TomMCJL Guess what - those scenes are in Avengers 1 & 2, difference is it was all bright colors and the Avengers were doing one-liners, while people were dying. Then they looked at replays of those scenes at the beginning of Civil War and were being all quiet and serious. GTFOH!!!

@ManojVMathews @TomMCJL Do you know why people left MoS liking Zod more than Superman? Because he got to give speeches and explain his motivations and feelings

@BobAlGreene @TomMCJL Yes for the deluded low IQ cbm larpers, where more spoon feeding is needed with scenes as such.

@ProfofEvil @D4hz4hn Superman also DOES do a funny in the immediate next scene of Man of Steel, completely undercutting whatever pathos he was supposed to be expressing by screaming incoherently and then hugging Lois

@ProfofEvil @D4hz4hn It’s straight up not the same thing at all in either case. He doesn’t kill the kaiju first of all. And he doesn’t purposefully kill Ultraman either, much less savagely murdering him with his bare hands. There’s also a lot more to it in terms of earned beats, writing and character

I'm comparing the lazy excuses people make.
Lola 🏴‍☠️😈⚔@PetiteLolax

@ProfofEvil Bro is comparing the death of a rampaging giant kaiju to the death of 100 innocent civilians and he doesn't understand why we think he's disingenuous. The thing is that Cavill's Superman decided to aurafarm without any strong reaction.

@offmodescarab If they wanted this to be a bigger deal dramatically, then the conflict between Superman and the Justice gang would’ve had to be a major conflict in the film, and I don’t think that’s what the film was really about

tbh I feel like everyone including Morrison hating on this scene want Superman to be lame forever I can't really explain it except its almost infantalizing. he saved the dog and the squirrel but he couldn't stop this and it didn't need a speech or whatever

Is it even possible for Control: Resonant to top this moment from Alan Wake 2? Mind you, this is a horror game and a genuinely amazing one at that. I cannot wait to see what Remedy cooked with Control

Dan Gilroy's imagination is limited so his idea of unique planets is just "oh here's the Scottish Highlands" or "here's a planet full of wheat." This isn't a problem unique to him as all of Disney's Star Wars has it but it showcases a creative bankruptcy across the board.

@BurnerMcAlias @LambentLucien This is a pointless argument but I will just say you’re essentially arguing the equivalent of Son of Frankenstein being hot in children’s film rotation in the next 15 years. Comparing Huck Finn to Attack of the Clones is a disgrace my man

@BobAlGreene @LambentLucien I’m being real Bob! People still read the Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Huck Finn, etc. Quality aside, Star Wars had that level of cultural impact. If people are still watching movies 100 years from now, then they will still be watching the original 6 SW films.

@BobAlGreene @LambentLucien Yes, because children will still be watching them 100 years from now. It’s been over two decades since the last one came out and people are still talking about them and watching them I don’t see how that’s so far fetched.
