It's a reserved matter and so is for debating at WM elections. 2024 WM election - 57.5% of Scots voted for anti-indyref parties so the UK gov has a mandate from Scotland to refuse an indyref until approx 2029.

@DownWithTheSNP Scotland is named after invading Irish tribes, the same way England is named after invading Germanic tribes. That said, most of white Scotland, England & especially Wales share some level of common Brittonic ancestry. A common thread to us all.

@bearsden_bhoy @mcarle17 I think the only WM election pro indy MPs got 50% of the vote was 2015 when SNP ruled out an indyref. I can't answer for the parties. Just giving my opinion on what feels a good balance. Without evidence for genuine appetite for indy it wouldn't be right up keep holding votes.

@fincarson The vote was 55/45. That is not overwhelming. Since 2014 there have been a series of material changes, not least of all Brexit which 75% of Scots do not support. A majority of Scots want a second referendum. That's democracy.

The US blockade does a few things. Among them: 1) it forces NATO to get off their ass. They need that gas. 2) US’s oil exports just got a huge bump. UN is strangled and so is Iran.

@NajamAli2020 Because the US has been humiliated by Iran so it's now having to find a way to deliver a show of strength. There appears to be no real point to their Iranian adventure though.

I am genuinely struggling to understand this logic. If the rest of the world is willing to pay a small toll to Iran to keep oil flowing and stabilise markets, then why does the U.S. feel the need to block all shipping, especially when it is not dependent on that oil?

@brawday Some Scots* 45% voted for indy 33.8% voted pro indy parties in the 2024 WM election. Approx 42% are looking likely to vote pro-indy parties in this Holyrood election. Most Scots have no appetite for independence.

Scotland hasn't had a chance , not of full powers denied to us by WM. Sarwar will never be in powers as long as we are in the UK. pro indy will never vote him or any other Labour leader. Only way he will win is if he was pro indy. Scots are fed up of this unfair UK
