My 3x great grandpa, George Mills, who fought with the 15th Texas Cavalry in the Civil War. Taken prisoner in Arkansas and was held at the notorious Camp Douglas. Pretty rough looking ol’ boy.

NEW: To celebrate America’s 250th birthday, The National Archives will open a special exhibition, “Free and Independent: A Celebration of the Declaration,” on April 24, 2026. The exhibit will run through July 5th, 2027 and is free and open to the public.
