@salubrious55 @SuDharmapala Racism is an action or belief which disadvantages or demeans people based on race or gives unfair advantage based on race. The Voice isnโ€™t racist because itโ€™s doesnโ€™t disadvantage or demean anyone based on their race. Creating equity for a race isnโ€™t giving unfair advantage.

@A2Bourne @turtlebackflips @nickofnz The article posted doesn't reference improved safety & reduced downtimes, but other reports do. BTW, I'm not your researcher. All the information you request is there for the Googling. Electrifying mining will be like any transition - slowly at first, then all at once.

I am quite aware of how theyโ€™re doing it. But thatโ€™s not the question. The article you referenced has tech less than 6 months into operation, and itโ€™s based on low implementation so far. The article also says nothing about reduced downtimes and improved safety. I want to know what it looks like when every mine in Australia rolls this out. What the ports look like. What the roads look like. What the repairs and maintenance look like on Chinese manufactured equipment. What the insurance looks like after the first lithium fire that canโ€™t be put out. Looking at one example in a small system less than 6 months old doesnโ€™t really tell you all that much.

BOOM! South Australia's power prices have plummeted as they near 100% renewables, proving to the world that relying on wind and solar with battery back-up is possible, more reliable and costs people less. THIS is how we avoid the next oil crisis. #EnergyRevolution

If we lost a war, and were occupied by a foreign power, theyโ€™d ship our coal overseas, and prevent us from using it. Enforcing Net Zero upon Australia, denying Australians using our own natural resources is an act of treason.
Stokdog@stokdog

Look how much coal Australia has ffs. We could power ourselves for thousands of years. But no, the idiots are telling us its bad for the environment but its ok to sell it to China.

A Chinese ship refuses to stop. Fire a shot across the bows ? Still refuses to stop. Board it, arrest the crew at gunpoint ? Then what ? Sail it to a friendly port ? Thatโ€™s piracy. Sink it ? Thatโ€™s warโ€ฆ

@A2Bourne @turtlebackflips @nickofnz Andrew, you can do yourself a favour by looking up how mining companies are electrifying their haulage trucks, processing plant & locomotives delivering ore from mine to port. It's saving $$$, reducing downtime & improving safety. This is a good start: reuters.com/sustainabilityโ€ฆ

Can you do me a favour and map out what weโ€™d need to replace our entire diesel transport network that moves everything from the mines to their final destination? Cost, infrastructure, vehicles, repairs and maintenance on both vehicles and roads due to weight etc. Iโ€™d be keen to see the work.

@TheHypocrisyCh1 @nickofnz Our own NEM. As more solar, wind & batteries have replaced more expensive gas the wholesale price of electricity fell last December. In 2024, retail electricity prices were reduced byย 4.31% in real terms in the ACT, where their electricity supply is nett 100% RE.

@LividGrub_ @nickofnz A significant volcanic eruption only reduces sunlight intensity by less than 3% averaged over a year. Better battery technology is making electric trucks a viable alternative to diesel in a 500 km radius. However, the big breakthrough is autonomous operation. Ready soon.

having 100% renewables is all good and well until you realise that the economy still runs on diesel, renewables aint gonna plant crops, they wont drill ya gas, they wont transport the food to super markets, it wont build your houses and it cant transport every other good across the state. Also what happens theres a massive sandstorm or super volcanic erruption (which we are a few hundred thousand years overdue for) is your solar panels gonna save the state if sunlight is limited

@TheHypocrisyCh1 @nickofnz SA has always had power above NEM avg prices because of high transmission costs. Lower pop density per Km of poles & wires means larger capex & opex costs amortised over fewer consumers. The disadvantage of having to go around two gulfs instead of how the crow flies.

@WhoKnew53531000 @AustralianLabor We absolutely need a vote of no confidence. In the Crisafulli Govt. The output of this oil field is currently so small it'll make no meaningful difference to Australia's fuel supplies. And by the time the infrastructure to make a difference is on-line, the crisis will be over.

These dills donโ€™t get it. If we run out of diesel, or Navy canโ€™t put to sea, our farmers canโ€™t harvest crops, and our trucks canโ€™t transport food to the city supermarkets.

In the middle of a global fuel crisis Iโ€™ve got 93% battery and 415 km of driving in the tank - powered by rooftop solar. No petrol station. No oil shock. No drama. This is what real energy security looks like. #EV #RooftopSolar #EnergySecurity #ClimateAction

@DavidPuls @EVCurveFuturist @me_allyann As to whether it's even technically possible, a Tesla has already driven itself (under supervision) from North Sydney to Melbourne. The tech is close to being able to confidently do it unsupervised. Once that happens, it's bye bye truck driving as a job.

@DavidPuls @EVCurveFuturist @me_allyann Of all the possible issues, that is an easy solve. The simple answer is people's jobs will change. The legislation authorising autonomous trucks to be on the road, will also ensure someone takes responsibility for the load being secure. Sensors will alert any loose straps etc.

Trucking is heading for a seismic disruption with EV trucksโ€”one that began in China, now sweeping the globe. Price parity is here, operating costs collapsing & fuel volatility accelerating the shift. Freight is nextโ€”once it flips, oil loses its backbone. abc.net.au/news/science/2โ€ฆ
