@thejournal_ie They could have taken annual leave and went on a holiday now that it would have been cheaper than peak summer

Some primary schools closed this week to use discretionary days off. The decision caused frutstration among some parents, who are balancing work and childcare. jrnl.ie/7034249

@Breegemw Oh, they'll try it, no question. Now, which corrupt and incompetent model do you want to run your nuclear power station? The one trying to build the children's hospital, the one that screwed up the Chinese reactors or the one suggested, which I believe is Three Mile Island?

@Breegemw @independent_ire He stood with the people at Ross House Hotel and had his home raided for it. He broke with FF over mass immigration and he stood with the people of Galway again recently during the fuel protests. He's earned his spot.

If you live in Galway West, it is important that you talk to your friends & relatives in the 65+ demographic. Make sure to let them know that business as usual isn't going to work anymore. Thomas of @independent_ire is the candidate best placed to take the seat from Kyne.

@JohnReynlds @albertdolan_ My community in North Mayo are fighting against a private WF that has gone to planning with ACP that is to power a proposed hydrogen plant & possibly a data centre in nearby Killala. This proposed WF is to be situated along the WAw

Thanks to @albertdolan_ 's government spending tracker, I found out just now that the Department of Enterprise paid €47,680 for the 190-page report (and any accompanying work the firm did) on energy parks that I obtained for my investigation

@enr56 you’d swear the greens had the majority in gov that they could do this! FF/FG didn’t enable this they were the masters of it the greens were the fall guys to allow the gov to do these and have someone to blame for it. 1 thing FF/FG are good at & that’s lack of accountability

The Greens were enabled by Fine Gael and Fianna Fail. They allowed Eamo and Roderic to run amuck to catastrophic consequences. Never ever forget that !!!

@Independent_ie Love how the INMO union is represented here when really “significant pay rises” will go to politicians and public servants working as advisors rather than nurses teachers Gardaí Politicians should be excluded from the public sector pay deals

@phuenowg @DaraghCassidy On top of us subsidising them so are major corporations such as Amazon (recently opened wind farm in Offaly) for their own benefit especially when it comes to data centres Any energy our country produced through solar & wind was swallowed up by data centres

My thoughts on why our electricity prices are so high. To reiterate my final point, we absolutely need to move towards a more renewables-based electricity system. But the grid first needs to be ready for it. And we need to be honest about the cost. Renewables ain’t free.

@Moaney_Hole @DaraghCassidy 1 off housing regs have tightened hugely ppl cannot build on family land unless they have a need in the area, no property available in the nearest town Tbh I think it’s a cop out blaming rural dwellers rather than looking at lack of maintenance of the roads

That's a crazy stat about the size of grid length compared to the UK. Our lack of density has so many knock on impacts. Energy, water, waste treatment, public transport, road maintenance, Internet etc. One off building regs need to be tightened up massively. And then looking at the deriliction in our towns and cities to boot. We're awful planners. Needs to be a clear out in public bodies.

@VillageMagIRE This is a god damn cop out to blame rural dwellers once again Nothing on the fact that any energy produced by Wind and Solar is completely swallowed up by data centres Corporations overrule citizens

~“We’ve a small, dispersed population with a lot of one-off housing, so costs for upkeep of our electricity network are very high per capita". — Some of our electricity hypercosts are due to Ireland's ongoing inability to recognise bad planning has a cost. thejournal.ie/ireland-highes…

@TonightVMTV @DaraghCassidy Why did no one shout stop when public lands managed by semi state bodies were funded by private corporations to develop wind farms that would benefit these private companies that have data centres For example the recently opened wind farm in Offaly on BnM lands backed by Amazon
