The Xenoblade games are these high grade high budget triple A RPG experiences that sell like 1-2 million each but because Monolith helps Nintendo make their games that actually sell a bajillion copies they're just allowed to keep making them despite the low sales it's so funny

This isn't just a nintendo thing, there's a huge phenomenon of game devs refusing to make sequels that actually follow up on their predecessor's story (even for narrative heavy franchises) because every installment needs to be a potential "entry point"

nintendo is so fundamentally opposed to having any kind of connecting stories between anything, its so weird. even games that are direct sequels will rarely if ever acknowledge the previous story

They explain it all it really isn't that hard to grasp just because the 4 hour DSiWare game has some backstory

@Bringodile @NINtendo_maya A lot of Pirate's Curse's plot rely's on Risky's Revenge. Shantae not having her powers, the source of the Pirate Master's dark magic, Rotty's subplot, and Ammo Baron's takeover of Scuttle Town are all things that rely on Risky's Revenge for important context.

Even 2 and 5 I think are better entry points than 8 or Gaiden (I haven't played PYIH or K3 tho)
