Early finish from work so happily it's straight into St Michel for food and wine. It's almost a year since my first Paris shift when I lost my dad - an extraordinary coincidence that few knew about. I'll sit and drink to him this evening - he'd have loved the other chair.

Had a quick glance at the BHA/HRI ratings for the horses entered in the National today… Looks like the cut will be around 146ish again - the Scottish National 1-2 will need a miracle to get in, Mr Vango and King Turgeon also unlikely and Vanillier looks a shade of odds against

Good to see the feature race moved to race five of seven across the week

My long odds book so far for ‘Evenwood Sonofagun’ to win the final. This brilliant horse is the best in the Uk and will trailing 70yards if he gets through to the final. This is a horse that has won £200,000 in the States👍

A very decent entry of 110 for the Haydon point-to-point @HexhamRaces this Saturday; first of 7 steeplechases due off at 2pm with 2 pony races beforehand. #gopointing
