It's been half a century since Robin Friday scored THAT GOAL against Tranmere Rovers on-route to promotion out of Division Four. Part of a 5-0 win in front of more than 11,000 supporters at Elm Park, what are your memories the most iconic goal scored by the man once voted our greatest ever player?

1/3 Today marks exactly 50 years since Robin Friday scored his wonder goal. It is said to be the greatest goal ever scored at Elm Park - now demolished. The referee Clive Thomas, put his hands on his head (see photo) such was his disbelief at the strike. Afterwards, he said: “What’s a player like Robin Friday doing outside the First Division?” (now the Premier League).

2/3 The attached photographs show the strike with Robin largely obscured from view (right hand side in both photos arms aloft). Tranmere came to Elm Park as promotion rivals but were turned over by the hustle and bustle of Reading’s attack. Tranmere Rovers were soundly beaten 5-0 with Robin Friday bagging two, and a hat trick from John Murray. This was to be a defining moment in Reading’s 1975/76 season.

@WestHam_Central Looking in from the outside I'd say the problem for Spurs is that they still have the same players who have been letting them down.

Promotion to the Premier League was #readingfc's greatest achievement, but winning at Wembley 38 years ago today was our finest hour. The sight of 40,000 Reading folk travelling up the M4 was something to behold. We had an incredible day (and night!)

Meantime in the UK, many racecourses have staged schooling days over the last two years....general public not allowed in, to my knowledge. There's the difference, folks.

Babies are also not born with a deficiency of seatbelts, antibiotics, or clean water—yet we wisely provide them anyway. Vaccines prevent diseases like Measles, Pertussis, and Polio that once killed or disabled millions of children. Breastmilk, sunshine, and love are wonderful. They are simply not immunology.

@MikeParcej @LeglockLuke @WolvesRaces Similar restriction on going down to the 1m 4f 100yds start @MusselburghRace Spurious reason being that it would block the route for emergency vehicles. Just sticking up a sign or two would indicate to keep the roadway clear.

@LeglockLuke @WolvesRaces There isn't another one mile race tonight Luke, but on my next visit I will clarify. My point is, up until four to five months ago, there was no fence there and access was open. The finest USP of Dunstall Park imho.

For only the second time this year, made it to @wolvesraces . Disappointment straight away that the area by the 1m start appears to be cordoned off again, even though @LeglockLuke was down there with racegoers last week. So the USP of this superb evening track is denied again.
