Boston signed cheap vets, competed for first in the NHL, placed second in the division, won a playoff round and played six more games. Swayman, Lohrei emerge. Poitras returns, Beecher settles in. Great transition year— invaluable playoff experience and cap flexibility. #NHLBruins

Snappy, quick movement with the puck from James Hagens, No. 12 in white, on the PP. Quiet night from Hagens and his line, but his talent can still take over shifts regardless. #NHLBruins

First professional shootout attempt from James Hagens. Nice timing and move, but a better save keeps the puck out of the net. #NHLBruins

James Hagens, No. 12 in white, uses his speed during OT and comes close to scoring on a wraparound attempt by throwing the puck through the crease. Good effort and good shift. #NHLBruins

Toronto is currently 7th from the bottom in draft odds. Florida won last night and is now within two points of Toronto while St. Louis is four points behind with two less games played. Still a tight race here.

With a handful of games left, it’s getting uncomfortable for Boston as Toronto is increasing their odds of finishing fifth-worst in the league. Boston finished fifth-worst last season and still dropped to 7th overall in the lottery, but still too close for comfort. #NHLBruins

@BruinsNetwork Don’t quote me on this, but I believe that even if Toronto finished fifth, they are still more likely than not to drop at least one spot than to stay or rise.

Fantastic assist from James Hagens, No. 12 in black, as he gains the line through traffic and feeds Merkulov for the goal. #NHLBruins

Good defense from James Hagens, No. 12 in black, while he cuts down the angle, fights off a forechecker and recovers possession for Providence, preventing a breakaway for Springfield. #NHLBruins

@DrTBagger We’ll never know, but I still stand by my take that he should/could have started in Boston.

@BruinsNetwork Was him playing in the AHL the right move to get him up to speed? May have been wrong on throwing him into the show

Patrick Brown mishandles the puck at center ice before James Hagens, No. 12 in black, collects it and feeds Wolanin in transition, springing him into the attacking zone for a shot on goal. Hagens has been excellent in transition. #NHLBruins

Fantastic puck movement, cycling, keep-in and one-time opportunities from James Hagens, No. 12 in black, on the powerplay this afternoon. Dangerous player with the puck on his stick. #NHLBruins

Really nice add for Boston as they corner the market on goalie prospects anyway they can. Lundgren, 23, was a key reason for Merrimack’s success and made sole big saves. Can’t imagine there’s enough games for both DiPietro and Lundgren in Providence next year, though. #NHLBruins
Mike McMahon@MikeMcMahonCHN

Merrimack goaltender Max Lundgren will sign an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins. 6-foot-5 Lundgren played every minute for the Warriors this season and posted a .920 save percentage and was ranked 8th in the nation on GSAx.
