@FOX19Joe Easy now. The Reds payroll is still well below league avg. Not sure a 1 yr 15M deal for Geno is all in. Signing 2 starting OF’s plus Geno is all in - for Reds.

In a two month period, the Bengals (Dexter Lawrence) and Reds (Eugenio Suarez) each made the kind of all-in moves so many people said the organizations wouldn’t do. 2026 feels very different in Cincinnati.

@JPFinlayNBCS Just take Downs and move on to the 3rd round. He's a future captain/ All-Pro.

@JPFinlayNBCS If Love is available at 7 and Dallas calls to trade up, would AP have any issues with trading in division? Dallas probably wouldn't give 12 and 20, but might give 12 and all of their mid round picks. Jerry is old and desperate.

Sal Stewart can do things with his approach/swing as a rookie, that many veterans can't. He's a pleasure to watch at the plate. #Reds

@casualtweeter02 How much longer do we have to watch Hayes? This is embarrassing. Krall has to go. This was a predictable terrible trade & Krall celebrated it. Moose, Candelario, Hayes. Krall is terrible

Hayes is so terrible at the plate he probably should bunt every time he goes up there. At least he’d be doing something productive at the plate when there’s a runner on.
LanceMcAlister@LanceMcAlister

To bunt, or not to bunt? A caller to Extra Innings insisted Ke'Bryan Hayes should have bunted with a runner on 1st and 0 outs in the 5th, and the #Reds leading 2-0. Hayes is 3 for 41 (.073) with three singles. He's also put down just one sacrifice bunt since 2019. That's one bunt covering 2,586 plate appearances. Hitting is harder than it has ever been in MLB. Forget trying to hit. Try squaring around, squatting and bunting a 100+ mph fastball or a slider that's breaking sharply right to left. This isn't little league bunting. There have been 516 games played this season. MLB teams are averaging two sacrifice bunts this season. The Reds are 1 of 8 teams without a sac bunt. Teams get 27 precious outs. They are hesitant to giveaway one of those outs just to advance a runner. In the case of last night, it would have been trying to advance Tyler Stephenson, one of their slower runners. Hayes is in a big time funk. I get it. But instead of bunting, Hayes lined a pitch at 101.5 mph.....right at the second baseman. I'll take that shot. Again, and again. Eventually it's a hit.

@dotsonc Hunter & Lodolo gave much better stuff than Singer. Difference is, both Lodolo & Hunter would have immediately came out of game in 5th last night. Singer stayed in bc he knew the team needed innings & he was pissed abt prior short starts. Singer is an old school pro

Lodolo may face hitters on Friday. He hasn’t thrown breaking balls yet, Francona said. Trevino continues to work, and he may be one of the guys who faces Lodolo on Friday.

Terry Francona said there’s a notable difference in the quality of Hinds’ at-bats that he has been having. An encouraging sign as he gets a shot now. Marte was “swinging at everything.” He’ll work on that approach in Triple-A. He’ll also play both RF and CF.

If you want to consider the reports about a Commanders/Jets draft trade, the draft value chart numbers add up. Commanders No. 7 = 426 points Jets 16 (305) & 44 (135) = 440 points drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Valu…

@arielhelwani No issue with schtick. He's just not funny or clever. It is just so clearly fake and not original, that it is just annoying and pointless. The fight AMAZING. It would have been just as AMAZING without stupid sound bites in interviews

There have been constant complaints that the UFC is stale and unimaginative, so you can’t be upset when a character like Josh Hokit emerges with an off-the-wall approach. Is it cringey or uncomfortable at times? Sure. But it’s working. He was just another guy on the Apex cards, but he forced himself into a main card slot on a numbered event. He was the most talked-about fighter leading up to 327. With that said, he had to deliver on fight night—and he did. That was one of the greatest heavyweight fights of all time. A massive win over a legit opponent. Now he’s secured a slot on the White House card. You have to recognize how impressive his rise has been.

For whatever reason, too many fans seem to focus on what Elly De La Cruz isn’t, and miss what he is becoming. They focus on his future, more than his present. He’s 24-years old. He’s in his 3rd full MLB season. He’s played fewer than 450 MLB games. Right now, he’s hitting .281-.361-.563-.924 with an OPS+ of 152. He’s on pace for 30 doubles, 51 homers, 132 runs, 101 RBI, 50 stolen bases, 81 walks. That would produce the second 50/50 season in MLB history, joining Shohei Ohtani. He’s scored a run in 12 of their 16 games, collected a hit in 13 of those games, and been on base in 13 straight games. For as much as fans complain about injuries, and players not playing with injuries, Elly's played 234 consecutive games for the Reds. That's the 5th longest streak by a Red since 1970. He’s improving as a right-handed hitter, facing left-handed pitching. 2023 .184 w/ 2 HR in 122 PA 2024 .224 w/ 6 HR in 217 PA 2025 .236 w/ 5 HR in 210 PA 2026 .318 w/ 4 HR in 33 PA He’s yet to commit an error this season. I get it, official scoring isn’t what it once was. But then turn to the metrics. He’s T-3rd in Outs Above Average at +2. Last season he was T-26th (-3). He’s T-6th in defensive runs saved (+1) , after -5 in 2025. He’s getting better. He answers the bell to play every day. He’s impacting the game at the plate, in the field and on the bases. Stop worrying about his strike outs. He’s going to strike out. Everyone strikes out. Stop worrying about moving him to center field. He’s a shortstop. I offer this to every ‘move Elly' conversation: Perspective. Dave Concepcion: 30 errors age 26, 27 errors age 28 and 31. Barry Larkin: 29 errors age 24 Derek Jeter: 56 errors age 19 and 29 errors age 21 Robin Yount: 44 errors age 19, 30 errors age 22 Omar Vizquel: 25 errors age 20 and age 21 Ozzie Smith: 25 errors age 23, 22 errors age 33 Alan Trammell: 26 errors age 21 Cal Ripken: 25-25-26 errors, age 22-23-24 Young shortstops take time to learn, develop and settle into the shortstop position. And finally, stop worrying about him being a Dodger or a Yankee. He won’t even reach free agency until 2030. It’s 2026, for goodness sakes. Enjoy him. Appreciate him. He’s the best player on the #Reds. He’s one of the best players in the game.

@LanceMcAlister And none of that is surprising based on the talent of the current players. This is on Krall. These guys are not good. When they slump, they are terrible. When at their best, they are league average, maybe.

@CBoxSports @CBoxTrace The Reds cannot be anything more than a borderline .500 team with this Front Office. Winning as a small market team removes any room for error. Krall has to go. This is the worst OF in baseball & the league knew it before the season.

@CBoxSports @CBoxTrace 1000000000000% spot on. Demoting Marte is a good 1st step. Now send Steer & Friedl packing. If we had a 3B in minors, I'd say the same for Hayes. This is on Krall. Years of re-builds & high draft picks & there are NO starting caliber OF's on the roster.

@bryce_spalding AMEN. Tito kept talking about it's time this ST. That means it's time for tough/ clear decisions on avg players. The ceiling on this team is 84 or so wins with guys like Friedl, Steer, & Hayes in everyday positions. Gotta hit, especially with top 2 starters out - as usual.

I hope this is a sign of things to come for the #Reds because TJ Friedl can’t continue getting the most at bats on this team, either. Sal & Elly have to maximize their chances.

@LanceMcAlister @LouisvilleBats So what will it take for there to be a final straw for Friedl and Steer? This is by far the worst OF in baseball. This was known coming into the season. Krall MUST go.
