You might know it as fusarium but don’t be fooled. Microdochium patch is very bad news for your golf course 🫣

Last year, @NCG_com named us the second best value course in England. With winter green fees starting at £30 to play our Top 100 Alister MacKenzie links, it’s easy to see why.

@Tweed_Barnesy Louise was lovely. Every time you were in her company she made you feel special. She was a great listener and her never made the conversation about her.

@Guymowbray Agree Guy. The lack of awareness of how it affects others is bewildering and disrespectful

Having rolled the pitch for income tax rises, Chancellor Reeves has now bottled it, under pressure from 10 Downing Street, which fears Keir Starmer could not survive such a major manifesto breach.
But the debt markets are not keen on a smorgasbord of small tax rises, which never deliver the predicted revenues.
So gilt yields are already surging across the curve at the market open, with the yield on the 30-year bond up 14 basis points. Yields on bonds of all maturities are up more than 10 basis points.
It’s yet another shambles.

The fascinating tale of why Jack and Seve played at @ladybankgolf 🤯
What was meant to be a day on the Old Course in St. Andrews, soon turned in to a round at Ladybank for Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros.

@DanMurphyGolf Great article Dan and very perceptive. Had the pleasure of watching Ryder cup at Gleneagles in 2014 and the English Am at SCGC this year. You have whetted the appetite for Lahinch.

Some thoughts comparing and contrasting the spectator experience at the Ryder and Walker Cups.
Spoiler: I would really, really like to be at Cypress Point this week (or any other for that matter)

The Ryder Cup is an electric, pulsating and memorable on-site experience, but put Dan Murphy in the middle of a fairway watching the best amateurs battle on one of the world’s best courses, and he is even happier 🤩 🔗 ow.ly/IE7K50WPs3U

I think this is the case because of the trend that wants to limit club face rotation. Less clubface rotation in theory means more “stable” face, easier to hit straight with better clubface control. Also with the ball and head not spinning as much with the tech, much easier to keep spin in the correct window as before it was much more difficult to keep spin down while trying to hit a fade with a driver.
Also if you want to hit up on the driver, the more up you go, the more left the path goes which makes it more natural to fade. But I think stats show most guys on tour are actually close to zero not up.
Why do I draw it? I tried to change predominantly to a fade for a couple yrs and never could figure it out because I like my misses to be left not right. Left miss with a cut is a double cross which is not good.
Yes yes the whole you can’t talk to a draw quote and that’s because the ball goes longer when you miss it left (for a righty) and potentially that’s a worse miss than the short right miss. But, I can control a left miss because I’m super comfortable making a left miss straighten out with some adjustments but really struggle when I’m missing it right and it’s way harder to straighten that out.
This became a much longer post than originally intended haha. Thx for coming to my TED talk.

Most holes at TPC Southwind move right to left. These are the only six golfers in the field who work it that way more than 50% of the time.

@SteveCarroll77 4BBB should not be used for handicap purposes. Particularly when a low handicap player pairs up with a higher handicap player… naturally the lower should to be on the card often (its his job). The one who makes the scoring difference tho is the higher hcap.

@ALS_Fanzine Brilliant first half performance for whole team. Isador goal reminds me of Didier Drogba

@SteveCarroll77 A very thoughtful article Steve. Its about striking the right balance. We dont play in tweed and ties anymore but neither should we play in Football shirts.

We write quite a lot about golf club dress codes. But what do you really think about them? We asked, and you told us...
