It seems to me that mediocre IQ + high motivation is the best combo for financial success I've seen. You're ok with not being seen as "smart", you care little what others think of you, you're always trying to learn more, you see failure as a stepping stone rather than something to be scare of, you always want more. High IQ + High entitlement is by far the worst High IQ + Low motivation is slightly behind that High perceived IQ (i.e. you THINK you're smarter than others + high motivation leads to the most frustration in life (This was me for my entire 20s)

$8/subscriber in my first ever email promo (and saved a dog’s life) . . . I’ve been in the Philippines, the land of smiles, since last week and I’m enjoying my time here. It always feels good to change your environment every once in a while… The last few times I was here, I kind of struggled to focus on business. But now I made the conscious decision to be very focused on business during the first part of the day, and then I can socialize later. With that said, today I’d like to briefly explain how I was able to generate $8 per email subscriber in a week when I first ran my first ever email promo. Some people think that making $1 per email subscriber per month is considered good money… But I made EIGHT times that in just ONE week. And while some might think that’s genius (and most of my exes will cheerfully dispute), the fact is that there were certain things in place that helped me do this. First things first, I gave people a really, really irresistible offer. This is something a lot of people in email marketing tend to forget. They focus a lot on email copywriting. Yes, writing great emails and subject lines are important because they help you build trust and relationship with your people… But they will not help you sell something that nobody wants. As I’ve heard world-class copywriters say, “you can’t put lipstick on a pig” and “you can’t polish a turd.” (I think Doberman Dan Gallapoo said one of the above but I don’t remember) So in my case, I actually put all my infoproducts (I had 5-7 at the time) together and offered them for a sweet price. Then, what made it really important (I believe) is that I told people they would NOT give the money to me. What I asked them to do was to donate the money to an animal shelter that I supported at the time. I made it very clear that I wasn’t going to ask for their money and, to get the offer, they had to send me a bank receipt, showing that they donated. Lastly, something that I did is that I gave them TWO levels of donation. I don’t remember the exact numbers, but I think I told people, “Okay, if you want all of my infoproducts, you need to pay a minimum.” I think it was 47 euros or 57 euros, something like that. But then I gave them another level and told them, “If you pay at least [some three-figure sum], I will also write a customized training program for you.” This is something I heard from one of the legendary copywriters, Victor Schwab. He said that you need to give people an option between YES and YES, not YES and NO. So by giving people two options – either making a small donation and getting all my infoproducts, OR making a bigger donation and getting all my infoproducts PLUS a customized training program from me – this also helped increase conversions. So, this was my first email promo. And it was very successful. Now, get this: Even though supposedly I didn’t make money directly from it, I ended up profiting. For example, some people got just the infoproducts… went through the content… and were so impressed that they asked me to write a customized program for them. Others got the customized training package, loved the results, and after 2-3 months, asked to become 1-on-1 clients. But perhaps what put a smile on my handsome face was this: Someone was so touched by what I did that he told me “I was so moved by what you did so I went ahead and adopted a dog from an animal shelter.” Yeap. He literally adopted a dog thanks to my email promo. That’s why I freaking love email, when done right. (Hint: if you use pretty design emails from email marketing agencies, you’re not doing it right lol) Anywho, hopefully this inspires you to take your email game a bit more seriously.
