@DivyaCPatelDO @nih_nhlbi @StopSarcoidosis I favor #lungreorg restrictive category for #sarcoidosis also, I am biased for my research interest in #ild though. Hope #microbiome and airway grants in sarcoidosis get crossover attention needed after restructuring.

@CathyBonham @nih_nhlbi @StopSarcoidosis Of the options available, I think restrictive lung disease is where it fits best. It’s considered an ILD so it makes sense. Plus I wouldn’t want to compete with copd/asthma for funding. #sarcoidosis research needs more funding and attention from @nih_nhlbi

Problematically for @nih_nhlbi #LungReorg, #sarcoidosis is the classic mixed obstructive and restrictive lung disease. In the comments Dr. Kiley specified sarcoidosis research will be reviewed in "restrictive" branch with ILD and PH. Reasonable? @DivyaCPatelDO @StopSarcoidosis

@jonherochung I find that patients with this distribution of airway-predominant disease due to sarcoidosis are the ones who become very exercise limited in longitudinal follow up - and harder to treat. Clinically can be very different vs. upper lobe distributive sarc. Great image Jonathan!

A reminder that sarcoidosis can primarily affect the airways. In this case, there is florid air-trapping and peribronchial nodules and bronchial wall thickening.

Pearly Young, 77, was killed today in #Buffalo shopping for groceries. For 25 years she ran a pantry where every Saturday she fed people in Central Park. Every. Saturday. She loved singing, dancing, & being with family. She was mother, grandma, & missionary. Gone too soon 🕊
