The past three years were the hottest three years in recorded history. The past eleven years were the hottest eleven years in recorded history. Trump thinks climate change is a “hoax.” He is dangerously wrong. We must break our addiction to fossil fuels and save the planet.

@AOC Airbnb generates a lot of extra income for working class families because they can monetize whatever space they already own in their residence. Try a different example.

Someone can certainly *make* a billion dollars. That’s not the same thing as earning. Growing fast and disrupting markets also often means chasing and wielding market power, political influence, and scale. Take Airbnb. They heavily lobby politicians against passing housing laws to protect working class residents because it’s bad for their business model. Airbnb could not exist at its current scale and size without the housing market destabilizations, displacements, and exploits that are supercharging the evictions of working people everywhere from Puerto Rico to Jackson Hole. Now young people are planning for a future where they will never be able to afford to own a home while others have 20 and live off renting it out to them at extortionate rates with zero protections. Yes, a tiny amount of people can make billions of dollars doing that. And millions of everyday Americans are bearing the cost.
Paul Graham@paulg

Sure you can earn a billion dollars. I've been teaching people how to do it for 20 years. The way you do it is to start a company that grows fast. You don't have to do anything bad to make a company grow fast. You just have to make something people want. paulgraham.com/ace.html

@SawyerMerritt How did you miss the fact that it requires significant regulatory approval? FTC, DOJ, etc? BoD wouldn't approve it either, SpaceX works with US military, upon Merger, Tesla is under risk of Chinese sanctions. Do you think that's wise? Both you and Bradford missed it.

Y’all, a SpaceX/Tesla merger is purely speculation right now. We don't know when/if it will actually happen. Even if it were officially proposed, it would still need major shareholder approval, with more than 50% of all outstanding Tesla shares voting YES to pass. If shareholders think it’s not a fair deal, they simply won’t approve it. I suggest that people just wait and see if a merger is officially proposed before jumping to conclusions.
Pejjy@CuriousPejjy

Do you think $TSLA investors will be getting robbed if it merges with SpaceXAI next year? 🤔

Four Arrested After Elderly Victims Targeted in Scarborough Jewellery Robberies Toronto police say four people have been arrested following a pair of distraction-style robberies targeting elderly victims in Scarborough. Investigators allege the suspects used fake jewellery and distraction tactics to steal valuable items from seniors in two separate incidents earlier this month. Police say the first robbery happened on April 22 at approximately 6 p.m. in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Scarborough Golf Club Road. According to investigators, the suspects were travelling in a grey Dodge Journey when they approached an elderly woman. Police allege the group used force to place fake jewellery on the victim’s hand in order to distract her before forcibly removing her gold wedding ring. Officers later located the vehicle nearby and arrested three suspects. Police say the stolen ring was recovered. Following the arrests, investigators obtained search warrants for several addresses. During those searches, officers allegedly recovered additional jewellery, including fake costume jewellery believed to have been used to facilitate similar thefts, as well as items suspected to have been stolen from other victims. Banana Lacatus, 32, Ion Miclescu, 26, and Elena Costantin, 20, all of Toronto, have each been charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Police say the investigation also led to the identification of another suspect connected to a separate robbery reported on April 20 in the area of Conlins Road and Ellesmere Road. In that incident, investigators allege a black Nissan Kicks carrying a male driver and two female passengers approached an elderly man between 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The suspects allegedly distracted the victim by asking for directions and praying for him before forcibly removing his gold chain necklace and replacing it with fake jewellery. Surbu Constantin, 40, of Toronto, was later arrested and charged with robbery. Toronto police continue to investigate and believe there may be additional victims.

Tesla shareholders funded the robotaxi vision through the hard part. The missed timelines, ridicule, drawdowns, and the “FSD is impossible” years. So if Tesla ever gets folded into SpaceX, the question isn’t “would that be cool?” It’s: who gets paid for the robotaxi value? Bradford breaks it down here.👇

@na_option So if you were holding AMD when Lisa took over and started restructuring and refocussing them while selling junk bonds to avoid bankruptcy, you'd demand compensation? So you demand compensation for risking in the stock market? Is this the new leftist investor view?

I back this message 100%. We all want to see a SpaceX/Tesla merger at some point but since $TSLA shareholders lived through the stomach wrenching ups and downs, we deserve to be compensated fairly. I’d like to see Tesla grow into its Robotaxi and Optimus valuations before (ironically) giving other shareholders a free ride to the moon. If a proposal is made beforehand I’d vote no.

@bradsferguson Why are you confusing the 3 issues? Anthropic gets Colossus 1, xAI gets Colossus 2, Tesla has it's own DOJO. Colossus 1 is considered excess compute therefore the repurposed it to their competitor and monotized it, makes complete sense.

What is best for “the mission”… 1️⃣ Tesla rent xAI’s Colossus 1 compute to accelerate training for v15 FSD, or 2️⃣ “Misanthropic” rent all of Colossus 1 compute. Elon allowed the latter. So is it true Tesla was unable to effectively use Colossus 1…
