@DrDiGiorgio Which disciplines have “chief” years? Most surgical programs refer to residents as chiefs when they are in their final year.
English

An internal medicine colleague of mine once told me that their chief resident refused to have more than 8 patients on their service because any more would be unsafe.
Another got written up for asking a med student what their thought process was for coming up with a diagnosis.
Another was reprimanded for criticizing an intern in front of the team instead of privately.

they wouldn’t be able to handle her either. it would take them like two episodes before they started saying things like “she’s too complicated” “she has too many family issues” “she chose to help her brother (who has a bipolar disorder) instead of going to a funeral she’s evil”

@thefateofmd @fuqekgs I lived across the street from the hospital. As a first year medical student, I used to show up in the emergency room on a Saturday night and ask what I could do to help. The first night one of the residents taught me to sew and left me alone to show up somebody’s face.
English

@pittchdance Where I trained the general surgery residents ran the traumas.
English

@fuqekgs He admitted the mistake, did not act defensive and learned from it. Didn’t let ego get in the way.
English

@CenterRotation I agree. People gave him shit about his PCOS patient, but it's to illustrate how we ALL have implicit biases and we can learn to decrease them. He was very receptive to learn and I'm glad about that

@KadieStephens Scrubs is awesome. That said, it has to be ER for me. It was pretty instrumental in me going into medicine and hits me square in the feels when I watch (for reasons I don’t understand at times). My fav character- Abby Lockhart.

@fuqekgs @lastsigfig @robbys_toupee I think the unspoken part they trying to portray is that there just isn’t a lot of time to handle things perfectly in a crazy, chaotic emergency room. It’s a symptom of the overall system sickness. The work dehumanizes you. Emotional robots get more throughput.
English

@lastsigfig @robbys_toupee Yes this is EXACTLY it
English

@fuqekgs Absolutely. Just get the work done. She’s actually hurting her own education because he knows more than her and could learn from him despite her attitude.
English

@CenterRotation By people I mean med students I worked alongside. Can't be besties with everyone

He was high while caring for patients lmao she is absolutely in the right to feel that way and tbh she is NOT mean enough

langdon needs to take a clue and stop playing the “I’m senior resident” card on trinity and trinity needs to remember addiction is a disease that langdon is taking all the right steps to recover from and that he deserves to be back at the job he studied 10 years for
English

@fuqekgs I can’t truly say how I would act if I were in her shoes though, but you can’t argue that her behavior is helping anything.
English

@fuqekgs I see physicians/midlevels/nurses who have diverted come back to the hospital after doing what is required of them. It’s so complex. The system is very forgiving (that’s a whole separate issue). Her current attitude isn’t helping anything.
English

@fuqekgs I think Robby was frustrated that Samira’s personal life was interfering with her ability to care for patients. Her mom had been a distraction for her and others all day. It’s a crisis and Robby just didn’t have time to deal with it. He could have handled it better.
English

Sadly favoritism is a thing in medicine, and I think they're trying to depict that, especially with the stark difference of Mohan and Whitaker in the same episode
Meredith Loftus@MeredithLoftus
We seriously need to have a discussion about the way Robby treats Samira's panic attack vs. the way Robby treats Mel's anxiety before the deposition 😑
English

@ChloeNumberIII Unfortunately, most of y’all don’t understand how it works in the real world. There’s been plenty of medical professionals that have been caught diverting and they have the opportunity to do the things they need to do in order to keep practicing. It happens everywhere every day.

@FinFreedom414 What if you have a with three kids?
English

Imagine you had to choose your life at age 40:
Option A:
Single. No kids.
$10M net worth.
Travel anywhere. Total freedom.
Quiet house. Quiet holidays.
Option B:
Married. 3 kids.
$1M net worth.
Drive a Toyota. Chaos every morning.
Loud house. Full dinner table.
Be honest, which life are you choosing?
