They’ve been doing that. I’ve been retired for 18 months and have had (3) recoups now for thousands for surgeries performed in ‘23 & ‘24. Ins Co’s can go back upto (5) years. And you’re right, you have zero recourse. They take it and that’s it! It’s criminal and yet nothing from our national leadership.

@FixnBones How do we combat it? They will threaten access to their patients. How do you budget when you aren’t sure when you will be paid?

What is it like in the real world? When your company renders a service and sends an invoice, how soon do you expect to be paid? What if they reject your invoice because they say it wasn’t filled out correctly or they changed their mind? Welcome to insurance companies. @mcuban

If insurance companies can deny care and call it "medically unnecessary", why aren't they required to have malpractice insurance doe when they get it wrong and someone gets sicker or tragically dies ?

@mcuban The beast is too complex. The whole system is flawed. There needs to be a change from the core. If we move towards something more universal than the cost of educating our doctors and other professionals needs to be minimize and or free.

The path of least resistance to reducing the cost of medical care is to require all Non Profit Hospitals and providere to be required to post on their website a Real Time and downloadable General Ledger with all entries The same for all supply chain transactions In detail There is no reason why taxpayers shouldn't see every penny they are subsidizing None There are no competitive reasons we don't subsizie you to maximize revenues or profits We let you be NP to maximize outcomes and we deserve to see every penny and where it comes from and where it goes, and why Problem solved

In TKA without patellar resurfacing (PR) for inflammatory arthritis (IA) compared to OA, there were no differences in reoperations, revisions, patella-related complications, or anterior knee pain. Additionally, PR did not improve outcomes in IA. arthroplastyjournal.org/article/S0883-…

People think buying a house is a “smart Investment” My friend bought a great house in 2007 for $650k Today he can’t even sell it for $775k That same $650k in the S&P 500? Now worth $4.29 million

@AIInvestorHQ Houses aren’t really a smart “investment” - but neither is renting. And people need somewhere to live.

I’ve used most all of them. I love personas anatomic l/r baseplates, cones are nice, and plus femurs are great. S&N is easy to go to hinge. Attune is great with one baseplate for the whole platform supposedly can go to hinge with no additional cuts.

@CenterRotation @Davembmd Totally agree. Probably better phrased as a ranking of specialties from least pessimistic to most pessimistic, or alternatively framed as least likely to want to leave medicine immediately versus most likely to walk away.

Curious what you make of this. Is it just another worthless unreliable survey or are we looking at a legitimate signal worth our attention? my take is that these surveys including the ones on compensation are exceedingly unreliable.

If you’re working out in your home gym doing Uber heavy squats or Uber heavy bench press please please please have a backup spotting plan. Either a real person or built-in safety stoppers on your Smith machine or squat rack or whatever you’re using. And if you don’t care about yourself and know you’re a moron about it then do it for your friends and family at least.

Of course it depends if you have a two income family, inheritance and all kinds of other factors obviously but, I'm spending my money on a vacation house and preparing for early retirement before I throw it away on a Porsche that starts to immediately depreciate. That's just me though.

@realdocspeaks The GPOs don't carry single brands for everything. I literally sat with a CEO who told me the reason they used a particular, more expensive glue, despite it being identical, in every way to 4 others , is because the doctor said he liked that brand from med school

It is all determined by which vendors have paid for the sole-source contract with the hospital GPOs. The hospital GPOs determine which supplies are used and not the physicians. Hospital GPOs function just like PBMs in the drug supply chain. There are three large hospital GPOs that control the hospital supply market and vendors have to pay rebates to get their products on the list.
Mark Cuban@mcuban

@NeilFlochMD Do you know any surgeons that demand a particular brand despite it having no advantage, and costing more ? Why ?
