Amazing that Penny Mordaunt is the only person in the Cabinet willing to vote on this latest Boris Johnson shit-show. If the Prime Minister doesn't have the balls to discipline someone in his own party over, well, a party, how can he stand up to Putin? Or even fight off a wasp?

Of course, if no MP objects to the motion it will go through on the nod. And House matters are not whipped. But imagine what kind of signal it would send if a PM turned up + defended a landmark report that seeks to protect the integrity of both Parliament and the office of PM.

Imagine you're a member of a cross party Parliamentary committee and you've had to install extra security measures after you've been called a 'Kangaroo Court', and then the Prime Minister signals he won't be present to support your cross- party conclusion.
