Cycling is by no means unique, but the general lack of criticism means that the influence of these states on the sport is only going to go one way

Inspired by the great work that @maxrushden, @bglendenning and the @guardian_sport Football Weekly pod have done on sportswashing over the years, I've written a long read on the situation in cycling, where 4/18 WT teams are sponsored by regimes with poor human rights records

Poll: I'm writing a feature for @cyclingweekly on whether it's better to track your cycling training in duration or distance, but am after the general consensus of #cycling Twitter. So, go on, what's your preferred method?

Is @otter_ai speeding up recordings for anyone? My settings say they're playing back at normal speed, but the recordings are sounding really fast.

@Microlambert The blue line is a lot quieter. During the first lockdown, I used the following when trying to find a traffic-free route for a nervous cyclist. It was fairly good until just next to Finsbury Park

Wood Green Common to Turnpike Lane. We actually took the main road route shown in orange here, which has some wand-protected lanes, but not for the whole length. I suspect the back street route in blue would be more pleasant, but would need confirmation on this. Thoughts?

@Microlambert You should come and explore some time! That and the Pymmes Brook Trail are fairly good no/low traffic routes

@CharlieAllenby Despite my misspent youth in the Fox, I’ve never actually cycled up that way. I hear you can get there via Haringey LTNs now

Do any of the really good bits of London's cycle superhighways (yes, I know we don't call them that any more) pass through busy town centres? i.e. sufficiently wide protected lanes in places with lots of businesses and pedestrians? What other town centres are good for cyclists?

Cycling is green, an active form of travel, removes congestion from the road and is a statistically less dangerous form of transport for other road users. Want another plus point? It can save you money too: coachmag.co.uk/sport/cycling/…
