Thinking of the people of Aberfan this day in 1966. An awful heavy story, lightened by acts of bravery and courage. If you are visiting South Wales try and visit the Aberfan Disaster Memorial Garden. It is emotional.

Five years ago today I took the best photo I’ll probably ever take. I like good photos and have a four hour bus journey shortly so need entertaining. Feel free to reply with the best photo you ever took. Accompanying description also welcome.

@EssexPR Oh no. The pound is always sold (and bought) like other currencies. It's like a posh William Hill. Again, it's just speculation and gambling on an attitude. Why don't you campaign against betting companies sponsoring sports and encouraging gambling through advertising?

@pritipatel Who knew what and when and their position to tell anybody is completely irrelevant It is a matter for the police and their collegues alone to investigate crimes and provide sufficient evidence for a prosecution You should know these things but endeavour to perpetuate gossip

Southport was a terrible tragedy that shocked and appalled the country. At the time, the public and politicians asked serious questions of the Government and yet the Home Secretary and Prime Minister chose not to come to Parliament or ask the searching questions needed at the time. Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper must be honest with the public and explain what they knew and when. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/10/3…

The system of one-word judgements meant 90% of schools could say "we're good or outstanding" when criticised. Getting rid of those (generous) judgements just increases the amount of criticism, including unfair criticism, schools get. Report cards are likely to be even worse. The more metrics, the more pressure.

@JamesMelville Yes. There are no assets that working people own anymore. Take water as an example or power. There is no alternative. Apart from complaining about anything.

The Labour government appear to be rewarding public sector workers while punishing private sector workers - in particular, small business owners. They appear to have forgotten that jobs, tax revenues (to pay for the public sector) and economic growth is driven by business owners.

@Strickomaster @MrFarmerPE You're right. SLTs will put on pressure, and are not mindful of this. They have a job to do.

A big law firm is so inundated with wealthy people moving their assets ahead of the budget it has stopped taking new instructions. I’m sure the Left thinks this very amusing but sooner or later they’ll run out of other people’s money to blow…

@DalrympleWill Just scrolled past this, scrolled up, read the headline, people are still picking on people about a war they think they have a more important opinion about. It's a dance you make money from. Go work at something beneficial for society. Go fight in a war. Go work in McDonalds.qp

Of all the propagandists out there delighting in the mass slaughter of Palestinians and Lebanese over the last months, few are more irredeemably vile than Douglas Murray
Max Blumenthal@MaxBlumenthal

Watch the atheist gentile Israel lobby plant Douglas Murray declare in no uncertain terms that Jewish lives are worth more than those of Christians and Muslims because Netanyahu’s apartheidist Israel forms the philosophical core of “Western civilization”

@GoodwinMJ I have. Now give the cases, the venues, the release dates of convictions, the court address and all manner of things pertinent to make your tweet sound less like an assault on justice and more an appeal for an application of justice. A news link to share would be fine.

In Britain this month a man was sent to prison for “life” which the judge said was “a minimum of 8 years” for pushing somebody in front of a train, despite having 13 previous convictions, six separate prison sentences and being in the country illegally. Now read that again.
