@Kalmarti5005 @raidergrad2 @jlkurtz How would Cinci have investigated it? Previous bans stemmed from state led investigations with subpoena power. Namely the Iowa investigation. I sympathize with Tech. If Sorsby came clean to Cincinnati we'd be asking Cinci to do the exact same thing we're asking Tech.

@ChristopherIhde @raidergrad2 @jlkurtz Cinci took that lie at face value and looked the other way. They failed to actually probe and investigate. Cincinnati looks worse than anyone at this point. At least tech actually declared him ineligible immediately upon discovery. If anyone is complicit, Cincinnati surely is.

Big 12 ADs have every reason to be furious about the Brendan Sorsby ruling. I absolutely hate it too. But there's one big reason sanctioning Texas Tech is a fight the league shouldn't pick. (Link in replies)

@raidergrad2 @jlkurtz Your assertion is flimsy at best because of the deception by Sorsby. Tech is going to bring a lawsuit saying Cinci should be punished because the guy they're defending lied to Cinci about his transgressions while at said school? Would love to see how that plays out.

@ChristopherIhde @jlkurtz Whether Sorsby lied or not, they played him after they were informed. The discussion was actually in regards to the legal battle if you read. Not the support for either side on playing him.

@jlkurtz Those that choose integrity rarely benefit from it. Tech would suffer losses if they chose integrity in spite of the TI. The Big12 will suffer losses if they stand by Sorsby being banned from competing and Tech being punished if they play Sorsby.

@raidergrad2 @jlkurtz Sorsby lied to Cinci about his gambling when they approached him. Holding Cinci accountable for being lied to by Sorsby, while supporting Tech's fight for Sorsby which includes knowing Sorsby lied to Cinci, is a take.

@jlkurtz So in consideration of a potential sanctioning event by the conference, at this juncture Tech has not actually played Sorsby. Another member actually has which if they don’t at the same time receive sanctioning then it further substantiates the litigation threats of Tech/TX AG.

@jcir454 @be_trades @TomMarsLaw Texas Tech is breaking 1.3.2 by not adhering to the NCAA ruling regarding Sorsby. Yes, a judge has ruled with a temporary injunction, but that doesn't change that Texas Tech is breaking Big12 rules while following the injunction. Also, what happens after the injunction?

@be_trades @TomMarsLaw Yes he broke the NCAA rule, no question about that. Sorsby isn’t technically a member of Big12 though. Texas Tech is a member but Texas Tech hasn’t broken NCAA rules to my knowledge.

It’s worth noting that in Sorsby’s lawsuit against the NCAA, Jeff Kessler’s whole argument was based on the NCAA’s assertion that its primary mission is to protect and benefit college athletes, which Kessler said it failed to do by not considering Sorsby’s addiction and mental health. The Big 12 has never made such as assertion, and its Mission Statement is vastly different than the NCAA’s.

Under Texas law, courts defer to the internal affairs and rules of private associations and will not substitute the court’s judgment for the association's decision (such as membership revocation, rule-making, or expulsion) unless the association failed to follow its own bylaws or acted in bad faith. So how does Texas Tech get around that? ⬇️

@RossDellenger Ted/Maria, to have any integrity, must immediately pull the Protect College Sports Act & table it permanently. Nothing with @CodyC64 involved, in any way, can find it's way into the life blood of regulating college football. There may never have been a more harmful person in CFB.

The Texas Attorney General sent a formal letter to the Big 12 today alerting the conference that Texas Tech would take action against any league sanction.

As Big 12 presidents consider sanctions, Texas Tech reps notified the league that any penalty will be met with legal action, sources tell @YahooSports. Tech is exploring legal avenues with noted attorney Jeff Kessler, including seeking a second injunction bit.ly/4v1ghqC

Based on conversations today I don’t expect the CFP Committee to judge Texas Tech’s resume with any special caveat RE: Sorsby

My friend and attorney Chad Hatmaker, who has experience in eligibility cases, summed up Sorsby ruling well. “This might be the case that actually generates real reform. That’s absolutely ridiculous. If you have an illness as an employee, you don’t get to break the rules because of it. An alcoholic can’t come to work drunk without getting fired.”

@flugempire Redistribute the media profit to benefit all NCAA schools, tear down the new conference structures which are based solely on profit and nothing else, and create an even conference geography across the nation.

Former Kansas State basketball coach Jerome Tang continues to receive credit from the Wildcats and interim coach Matthew Driscoll, 10 days after his firing. Driscoll brought him up for the third-straight presser, this time unprovoked. Video included. cjonline.com/story/sports/c…

Maybe, but I'd rather go to bat with last year's national runner-up and another out of the pool of Zona, ISU, KU, TTU, and BYU.
Joe Mathieu@joemathieu

@ChristopherIhde I watched Michigan/Duke the other night and both of those teams will beat any of the Big 12 teams right now. Florida, Illinois, Purdue, UConn. There are a lot of good teams.

@joemathieu Big 12 will have at least 2. Arizona is built to win on neutral site, a team will have to shoot high percentage from 3 to take them out. ISU/Houston both have excellent chances. I'd give a higher chance to Big12 having 3 than 0. Who else in NCAA really scares you?

@SethDavisHoops @MedcalfByESPN Such a bad take, and further exemplifies how you all only truly cover a handful of programs maintaining zero knowledge about the rest of them until some staffer puts a sheet of paper in front of you.

Always interesting when the young up-and-comers fire off comments at a veteran like @MedcalfByESPN asking how long he's been following something. The idea that any of the things you listed remotely qualify as being "for cause" is laughable. Lawyers gonna lawyer, of course, but that doesn't mean you have to fall for the ruse.
Riley Gates@Riley_Gates

They are saying that you cannot tank the program into the ground, change your message in the media constantly, go after media members, cross the line on being critical of players and, overall, fail massively at your job. How much K-State have you followed this year before firing that tweet off?

@MedcalfByESPN That was a flimsy excuse to try to validate the “for cause” angle so they wouldn’t have to pay him. If Tang’s lawyers are smart, the take it to court and show 1000 clips of coaches saying similar things and not getting fired.

Why would you want the Kansas State job after this? Can't get upset and go off on your team? Team was losing. Jerome Tang knew how bad it was. And it was bad. But taking his buyout over a heated press conference should make every viable candidate tell their agents to think twice.

KU needs Darryn Peterson to put up Michael Beasley numbers to keep pace at Allen Fieldhouse with the worst Baylor team Scott Drew has had since like 2005. And I can't even enjoy it because Jerome Tang is doing shit like admitting mid-season his players don't like each other.
