@Bryent11341275 @georgejroy I think the privacy issue is something that really needs to be looked at. When does someone have the right to post something that involves another person?

@georgejroy #EDTE731SPRING2020 I like the idea of integrating social media, but I also think on privacy. The ISTE gives great information on digital citizenship, it comes down to making things natural and useful. Just like real assessment and instruction.

@Miss_Fehlig @georgejroy I agree with that. The key to me is the students understanding a positive digital footprint. The students need to know what they post will always be with them.

@CoachRAdrian @georgejroy I agree that what students post is also how they are perceived, but posting meaningful information related to their education is a great way to teach students to leave a positive digital footprint. #EDTE731SPRING2020 @georgejroy

@georgejroy #EDTE731SPRING2020 Social Media can be great but also dangerous for young people. Great because you can connect and reach a large audience. Dangerous in that what you post is also how you will be perceived. It is their resume so make sure it reflects their character.

@BarrackLindsay @georgejroy I too agree that students that young may not be ready for full out social media, but technology is a full out part of their lives even at that age. So when do you believe would be a good age to start teaching about their digital footprint?

I think bringing certain social media into the classroom could be a useful platform to engage older students if used correctly. However, I teach third grade and I do not think any social media would be appropriate given their age.
