@CoachRGarner Coach, loved the presentation yesterday. I didn’t do power cleans last year and we got stronger and faster.
As a WT training coach, Power cleans are expensive to teach. Bar path and mechanics are very important.
Data showing no correlation to speed gained was cool to see.

One note I will make that’s not in here
I went away from the clean years ago, but we do snatch in our program. I don’t consider it a driver, but I do think it’s important.
I talk with a lot of sport coaches that love the clean, but not many want to snatch.

I’ve always struggled to grade weight training in a way that truly reflects progress.
I think we may have found a solution.
Yes, there could be exceptions if an athlete is injured or having a really bad day.

@coachklee @CoachJonMc Thought you may be “arcing” to the OLB or Safety. Works like an influence block. He just looked a little unsure so I didn’t know what he was trying to do.
Love how they blocked it up. BSG did a good job finding his guy.

@CoachThompsonLR @CoachJonMc Lots of teams will have him “arc” against an open C-Gap in an even front. Froze the DE for a split second as he is probably thinking reach block & makes the FB kick-out easier all the while putting the TE in position to block perimeter support if the defense does spill the ball.

A tough lesson I’ve learned as a coach:
It only takes a few selfish individuals to ruin an entire team.
You don’t get to choose who the young ones look up to…
but you do get to choose who stays in your locker room.
Guard that place 🫡

Kids don’t need a “magic” program.
They need thousands of quality reps on fundamentals until it becomes instinct.
Our job as coaches is to get them those reps efficiently.
If you’re always chasing shiny ideas, you’ll never develop fast, confident players.

Consistency.
Our kids don’t need the most complex program. They need something simple, clear, and repeatable… then they need to attack it every day with great effort and intent.
