The next step forward in how I display workouts is a product that is strictly designed for one purpose: Display your workout. No AMS or Yearly Subscription Fee. Purchase Once. You own it. Write out your lift and it turns to a clean TV Display with timers/rounds. Stay Tuned

To think a few years ago I thought displaying an Excel Spreadsheet for workouts was the best thing ever Then @NunleyChase talked to me about Google Sheets and it changed the game Timers and easy customization with Sheets

@CoachRGarner Are you making them html with the timer built in? That could be pretty slick and it'd work on anything with a web browser...

Sample of what’s in the works for coaches needing help with displaying workouts easily and consistently. No, this isn’t a web-based subscription based product either. It’ll be a one-time purchase and it’s yours

@CoachCShu @NunleyChase I said sheets…it’s really slides 🤦‍♂️ Soon it’s about to be some web based program self-coded - just an idea

I should mention my Performance Dashboard is getting some MAJOR upgrades. For starters 1. Team Summary 2. CSV Uploads. Upload your data from whatever AMS you use directly into the Dashboard 3. No more typing directly into data entry. Submit Team data with one click and its saved

We do a ton of jump variations: Weighted, Seated, Hand on hips etc. You name it. We do it. We build our jumps variations to teach kids how to jump but also identify weaknesses. Seated VJ is typically the best jump for most high school athletes

The sole reason Costco membership is worth it is for the 10lbs 90/10 Tubes. $5.89 / lb The pizza, hot dogs, and chicken bakes are also a plus…

@CoachRGarner The best part, other than embedding timers and videos, is adding the coaching cues and any other directions I know they will ask 100 times. Plus I can double down on our Culture as much as possible.

Schools have used a heat policy for years - Heat Index, Not WB - big Texas schools have indoors so it cancels out anyway Yes you can practice at 6AM - depending on community hard to get full program there. 7PM can be similar issue Hard to work around but doable if it’s expected
Ross Garner@CoachRGarner

Texas UIL is officially enforcing wet bulb policy. Plenty of states use it The only problem I have with WB Policy is it goes away on game day. At some point they’ve got to get exposed to heat cause they’ll play in it. Acclimation is real. Heat + 🏈 Gear = Big Adjustment

@CoachTGuidry No doubt. Game time for most varsity games isn’t an issue. The MS and JV schedule run into issues. I remember having days in Texas when WB would clear for full go at 8-9pm

@CoachRGarner Texas: Varsity -7pm, so it's okay. JV- 4 pm, so it gets delayed. The real problem is that Little Leagues don't enforce it. So 17-year-old athletes with full-time training staff can't be in the sun, but 5-11 year olds can have a full 2 hour practice run by volunteer parents.

July is when we start adding “sport-specific” conditioning. We layer this with our field work 1x/week to prep for worst case scenarios on game day. Bigs need to start hammering sleds to get ready for the trenches - they’re wrestling for 4Q. Train accordingly.

@strengthpfiz Georgia games start at 730 so not too much of an issue. Early in the season though it can be tough no matter where you are, especially first 4 weeks.

@CoachRGarner That’s my biggest gripe too. Generally, it does get colder by 7p but the kids could go from 1hr practice with no pads to full pads game real quick. Good coaches change schedules to meet the requirements though it does cause inconvenience (7or 8pm practice)

So is it possible we cant try to get the best out of both worlds? And guess what, Ill still make sure we are touching on conditioning as well. Should I hand over my SC card now??
Ross Garner@CoachRGarner

Are we conditioning football players for the wrong sport? Football isn’t played in a straight line. It’s acceleration, deceleration, and redirection over and over under fatigue. Linear sprinting builds the ceiling. COD training teaches athletes to express it in chaos
