To the Spurs fans who are rightly upset the De’Aaron Fox you saw in Sacramento is not the one you are going to get based on his role. Fox is a volume scorer and has been stripped down to a pass first off ball guard. Fox averaged 14.5 FGA this season, lowest since 2018-19.

I keep seeing that the Spurs need to bench Fox for Harper. I thought we learned this last series? The offense is way too sloppy without Fox. The solution is Fox needs to play better. If you want the Spurs to play Harper in crunch time, he should play over Champagnie/Vassell

The voices yelling this opinion aren't necessarily wrong, but they may be short-sighted. De’Aaron Fox accounted for 5 of the Spurs’ 16 assists in Game 1. Like it or not, this playoff run has repeatedly reinforced the idea that Fox may be the only true starting-caliber point guard on the roster right now, while Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper often look most comfortable operating as attacking off-guards. For a team striving toward positionless basketball, that’s an inconvenient reality that keeps surfacing, even if some choose to ignore it. That said, I do agree on one thing: Dylan Harper didn’t play enough. When he was on the floor, he looked like one of San Antonio’s most impactful players. Finding more minutes for him in Game 2 feels less like an option and more like a necessity. P.S. Anyone remember David Jones Garcia? How about Jordan McLaughlin? Just sayin’.
