Met with a teacher after an observation yesterday. Her reflection was so thoughtful it gave me goosebumps! Teachers are incredible! We need to keep reminding them of that. #YES_Bulldogs you all ROCK!!!!

BIG problem when teaching kids in classroom & online AT THE SAME TIME? Can't see them all at once. To have any chance of working need huge monitors in back of room facing teachers so teacher sees both groups AT THE SAME TIME. Better if some teachers teach online & some in person.

@MimiDempsey1 @Coachpompa IMO, main advantage of base ten blocks is their cost. They're cheaper than other manipulatives. But honestly, not much I would use them for. Other better options!

Are Base 10 blocks the worst manipulative we can choose to teach operations? Can't break them apart, can't unitize them, and the ones are too small for kids to handle easily. What's the #1 consideration in choosing a manipulative? Kids can MANIPULATE them!

@gregtangmath I love base ten blocks but only AFTER using Unifix cubes for very reasons you describe. One of my biggest concerns is how each piece is labeled. I’d like to see them called singles, decas, and centuries. Don’t have a label for 1,000 yet. What do you refer to them as?
