@Cready_Stomp23 Especially, since you lived in Seattle, I can see that. Probably anywhere on the I-5 I imagine. I see the crowds there today. I can’t do it anymore. 🤣

@GovTinaKotek Great job, Tina, handing out free books while your shithole state drowns in fentanyl, tents, and illiterate adults. Peak performative bullshit.

Yesterday at the new East County Library in Gresham, we celebrated the bill that makes Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library an official state program, providing a free book to young children each month!

@JeffMerkley Happy Juneteenth, Jeff. Too bad the Rosenbergs didn't get to celebrate, your party executed them for selling secrets to Stalin. Keep lecturing us about "justice," clown.

Some Seattle soccer fans have mixed feelings about patriotically backing the U.S. team during the FIFA Men's World Cup, given the actions of President Donald Trump. #Echobox=1781802264-2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">seattletimes.com/seattle-news/w…

@TinaKotek Hey Tina, spare us the Juneteenth grift. The slaves were actually freed by Abraham Lincoln and the Union Army, not your endless DEI circle jerks and failed blue city policies.

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
On June 19, 1865, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from slavery — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect. For 161 years, Juneteenth has been a day of remembrance for the freedom that was delayed. It is also a celebration of the joy and resilience that flourished despite that delay. The contributions of African Americans, whose struggle for freedom shaped our nation, are immeasurable. Yet too many Black families continue to bear the brunt of an affordability crisis that has pushed them out of the neighborhoods and communities they've built. True freedom has a tangible impact on daily life: the ability to afford housing, earn a living wage, put food on the table, support a family, and create a future for generations to come. As we celebrate today, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring this freedom is fully realized. Happy Juneteenth, New York City.

Happy Juneteenth! As this administration sows hate and division, and is openly using racist rhetoric and rolling back hard fought victories, today we recommit ourselves to working every single day to dismantle systematic racism and hate in this country.

Juneteenth is a day of joy and of reckoning. A reminder of the long, brutal distance this country has traveled toward justice, and of how much road remains. Today I celebrate the progress won through generations of Black courage, resistance, and organizing. And I recommit to the fight for true racial justice in every corner of this country. The work is not done, and it never stops.
