Ten #Bahai women were detained in Baharestan, near Isfahan, #Iran today by the Islamic Republic's security forces at 6am without warrants or prior notification. Agents reportedly scaled walls and coerced neighbors to raid the homes of Boshra Motahhar, Sara Shakib, Sanaz Rasteh, Shourangiz Bahamin, Firouzeh Rastinejad, Maryam Khorsandi, Mojgan Pourshafi, Nasrin Khademi, Roya Azadkhosh, and Azita Rezvanikhah. Some of these women are mothers of young children, while others care for elderly parents. They have all previously been unjustly sentenced to prison terms. The Baha’i International Community is appalled by this latest outrage, particularly just two days before Iran’s human rights review at the UN. Baha’i women face a dual violation of their #HumanRights—as women and as Baha’is—as highlighted in a recent statement by @UN human rights experts. Mahvash sta scontando una seconda condanna a 10 anni di carcere, vittima di una persecuzione che colpisce la comunità bahá’í in Iran da decenni. La sua famiglia, sostenuta dalla BIC (Bahá'í International Community), ha lanciato un appello e promosso una Twitter storm oggi alle 18:30 per chiedere che Mahvash non venga riportata in prigione dopo l’intervento chirurgico. Yesterday a senior #Bahai official, Omid Seioshanseian, was forcibly detained and disappeared by #Egypt state security for over 13 hours at Cairo International Airport. His devices were confiscated and he was unable to contact relatives or colleagues. Mr. Seioshanseian was handcuffed, blindfolded, physically mistreated, interrogated and threatened, by agents of the State Security Investigations Service Al-Amn Al-Qawmi, and then filmed under duress to state that he was not mistreated. @BahaiBIC_Rights is raising this outrageous incident—and that of all Baha’is in Egypt—at the highest levels worldwide. Noting in particular Egypt’s legal obligations to the @UN Committee Against Torture.
