They say dogs are so resilient and they are. They forgive, sometimes too easily, too loving to the wrong people. Case in point. Wrigley was found tied up to a pole here in NYC. Abandoned. Emaciated to the point of being skin and bones. Police found him and brought him to the New York Animal Care Centers. There the volunteers dedicated their time (as they do all dogs) lavishing love on him, probably the first time he's ever received any, doting on him and giving him extra helping of treats which he took ever so graciously. They realized he knew commands and was a pretty easy going guy despite what he's been through. The NYCACC flagged him for cruelty. Unfortunately nothing will ever happen as these situations go unreported and dogs are considered property. ie. not important. We saw him and knew we had to save him. We knew he deserved love and attention. We are so grateful that a wonderful woman stepped up, went through the process of filling out an application, getting interviews etc. She wasn't just another person on the threads saying "someone do something". She knew she was someone and she was going to do something. Thanks Jill from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you, Jon. I’m not too comfortable reading about myself because it’s about the horses, but you really heard me and I appreciate it. Ginger would be so proud of you. ♥️ I woke up to more mares in the pipeline needing help today. It’s an everyday thing, a steady stream of older broodmares who have no star power and who if we at @ThoroughbredRA can’t network for and save will slip into the abyss and disappear across the border to slaughter. Not being able to help is heartbreaking, the false narrative about not shipping, ransom and extortion makes it worse. Perpetuating the false narrative ensures more are not saved. These horses were willfully placed in harm’s way, they were not captured, there is no extortion. I am tired but I won’t stop fighting for what’s right, for the industry to do right by all of the horses, especially the broodmares.
